I dont expect most of these people to vote in the actual primary elections ...
*******************************
HUH?? The voting booths are going to be the scene of stampedes if Trump is the nominee. Everyone I know is “itching” to vote for him - young, old & former Obamanites. They’d vote for Cruz, too. Jebito? Rubio? Christie? Kasich? Meh.
The slide has been going on for a long, long time. One notable event in the slide was the Bill Clinton era in which people openly decided that character didn't matter.
I think people today feel that character does matter, political correctness is killing us, and honesty in government is almost completely lacking. Trump is attracting attention, in part, because he has really valid ideas (on immigration, taxes) but also because people think he's blunt and honest and willing to say the stuff that others are afraid to say.
People are hungry for a moral society. They know that what we have today is broken. It has to start with honesty.
“I hate to tell you this guys, but if your front runner cant be convinced that he needs to be loyal to your cause in order to defeat the other side, youve got much bigger problems than him. “
That’s the best line in the entire article, and entirely true. And the GOP still hasn’t got a clue...they’re doing everything they can think of to torpedo Trump’s efforts, and not even thinking about looking in the mirror...
He didn't BEAT the system you moron...he used the system to the tune of world wide prominence and 10 BILLION bucks. What have you done but sit around and cry?
I think we are going to see a lot of people coming out to vote both in the primaries and the general for GOP that haven’t in a long time because of Trump. I travel a lot and the people that I overhear talking are talking about Trump and Sanders and while it isn’t scientific politics being what it is when you start seeing average people being vocal this early in the stage something is up. I’ve been working in RI and overheard a guy trying to win over a Chinese lady who clearly had supported Obama to Trump. Trump appears to be very popular in the North East.
Trump though if he wants to get out these new/infrequent voters especially to the primaries he had better be making sure they are registered.
The Trump charge is not so much a vote for Trump and his policies as it is a slap in the face of the old time GOP that no longer speaks for conservatism. The last GOP conservative was Reagan, and he did work for a smaller gov’t. Personally, I’d enforce the current immigration laws to the hilt, freeze non-military gov’t spending, replace the tax code with a flat (not Fair) tax on both personal and corporate income, and kill the EPA and other regulatory agencies who think they can circumvent Congressional approval. I’d also try to find a Congress who do what they were elected to do: Provide social overhead capital and solve problems rather than just fret about their own reelection. I’d also pass a law that says:
“Any elected official who approves a spending budget that leads to 3% or more increase in the deficit cannot sit for reelection”. I’d jump at the chance to help such a person. Compare those goals with what we see coming from the current GOP leadership and its business-as-usual-to-get-me-reelected.
This: If the future of all free civilization didnt rest so much on its outcome... is ESPECIALLY telling. And in trying on your horse crap about "vetting" [Trump] in the face of TWO elections of the Kenyan is patent bullshit.
If Trump weren't running, those words never would have been uttered as they should have in 2008 and in 2012 or a hundred other times with all the leadership elections.
The truth is that there is only one, two at most, candidates right now on the Republican slate that resonate with the core disgust at the betrayal of GOPe leadership, and he is the man about which all these "concern" articles are written.
Because you mention Huckabee or drive-by Jeb as if the name legitimizes the Trump hate doesn't hide the real motive.
Trump isn't my choice by any means, but I certainly don't think he is as dangerous as Jeb or near a dozen of the others. He scares the crap out of all you "concern" capos and you're all doing your level best to take him out. See what happens, suckers.
I’m in Dave Brat’s district ... the DB who took down Eric Cantor. Before that election, the excitement was almost like a hum of electricity in the air ... if I saw someone with a DB sticker on their car in a parking lot, I gave them a thumbs up - got one back and we’d go our separate ways, smiling to ourselves. We’re still smiling, by the way, but back to my point. I’m seeing/feeling the same thing with Trump. This undercurrent of discontent with GOPe & excitement over Trump is not something pollsters can measure or the media can really understand. The excitement is genuine and there’s not a single candidate out there (sorry Cruz) who is doing the same thing.
“...a man who brags how well hes beat the system of free markets.”
What a silly statement. One builds wealth by properly using the tools provided by free markets, not by “beating” those tools.
You have to “beat” other systems to get rich. Capitalism is designed to provide the best chance for prosperity to the largest number of people, unlike other economic systems.
Carry on.
Immigration is the defining issue of our time. It affects everything else including jobs, wages, the economy, welfare payments, health care, etc.
Obama broke the clown barrier to becoming president. Media stars are now ruling our country.
“Being a highly productive member of the talk radio world, this election is great for my job, at this point.”
“Productive?” I hope he was saying this with tongue in cheek. He produces nothing, only consumes electrons and ink.
OH BOY do you guys have a big surprise coming after Labor day....
If you had been listening to his speeches, you would have caught on, he’s telling us all what is going to happen, and all the msm’s and talking heads are playing ‘spineless sissies’ games....this man Trump, he’s not playing...
After Labor Day, these little gnats that think they are candidates (except Cruz and Carson) are going to be swatted into the universe...
All these people who are used to seeing ‘spineless sissy’ politics, are going to be at awe....you haven’t seen the Real Donald Trump and what he can do, and will do, and is going to do to the ‘gnats’ flying around....put on your seat belts, we are in for one hellva ride!!!
A moral society cannot be provided by the government. A moral society starts in the families and in the churches.
The government reflects the people not the other way around. Our religious leaders and our adults set the foundation of society. Currently it is set by Hollywood movies, television, and hip hop music.
The democrats are counting on uncontrolled entitlements driving us into de facto socialism and dramatically higher tax rates, just as they are counting on uncontrolled immigration producing a leftist electoral lock. In both cases, the drift of events works in their favor. All they have to do is demonize reformers. That is the challenge, and if we do not find a way to meet it, we might as well immigrate to Sweden or the Netherlands to find a relatively free market refuge.
Just to show you how PO'ed I am, I'd like a law that says if you don't pay Federal Income taxes, you don't vote in federal elections. Nothing the in the game, why should you have a say? Think what that would do to spending.
