I Like Donald Trump. I REALLY do. But...
Vanity ^ | 8/29/2015 | Self

Posted on 08/29/2015 9:18:10 AM PDT by cuban leaf

Though this is a vanity, I have linked to the foundational source of my point.

I REALLY like what the Trump is saying. I like his attitude, I lake his effectively destroying PC and his takedown of the MSM. I like seeing all the liberal and GOPe heads exploding. I especially like him running a screen for Cruz.

But I would be very concerned about a Trump presidency. If you look at his stances in the past and some that are current and couple that with is personality, attitude and MO, and imagine him as the "strong man" in the article in the link, you will see where I am coming from.

I can’t get to the cartoon so I don’t know what you are implying.

We already have a guy who runs roughshod over the constitution. We already have a guy who issues decrees which are rubber-stamped by a pantomime congress.

We already have a pantomime congress which is afraid to confront the press, afraid to confront the least public criticism, afraid to confront the party bosses, afraid to even try to fulfill their promises. We already have a banana republic, albeit with high-speed internet and smart phones.

Out of all of the people running, several are owned outright by the same people who own Obama. Most of the rest are afraid to go on the attack except against other Repubs. There are only a couple that I trust to do what they say they will do and that would be Cruz, and a couple of the governors. Trump? Trump is not a philosopher and his opinions are not philosophically rigorous. So he worries me. But he fights. And he doesn’t care if the press doesn’t like him. The moment he starts apologizing and backing down on anything is the moment when he loses his mojo. I think he knows that. But totalitarian? Don’t be silly. Thats who we have now. Thats Clinton... (remember the list of dead people a mile long?...)

He is the lightning rod. Before he was on the scene, all the stupid attacks were on Cruz. Now that Trump has stepped forward they are all directed at him, but if he falls, the attacks will shift to whoever is next in line. And if he’s a Repub, the nazi innuendos will start again no matter who we run.

Okay so we have a potential Clinton, Obama as dictator or Trump. I take Trump.

That is true, and I love what Trump is doing, but sometimes I feel he’s not all there, which is great now, but when he is the most powerful man on the planet...

But hey, we have nothing to lose anymore when colleges are banning the words he/she and woman/man...

I don’t want a strong man. But nobody in the party besides Cruz is slightly interested in anything like what the founders envisioned.
And so much damage has been done by the recent revolutionary socialist government that some very big corrections need to be made.
Ten million illegal aliens need to leave. Trade has to benefit Americans. The military officer corps needs to be gutted of the social experiment MBA type wusses, foreign policy should benefit America and be something more than constant war.
There has never been a time in American history where we have spent 15 years at war.

Huge changes need to happen, so a republican who will hold the wheel and be comforting for a 4 to 8 years wont cut it.

I think Cruz is awesome, but I don’t see him being dynamic enough. I think a Cruz partnership with Trump would be idea. It would ground Trump in the constitution, but still give us Trumps attitude.

No. Trump isn’t that kind of leader. He would be happy to be dispensed with in 4 years. Germanic Europe had a totally different family structure and personality. No worries. We will surely have our problems, but not nazi Germany style.

In my estimation, Trump is no where Strong Man enough.

We need a Pinochet to correctly deal with the leftists in this country.

You’re assuming that he’s being patently dishonest in a number of areas, if you can equate a Trump Presidency with a Hillary Clinton Presidency. I get the sense that he intends to accomplish what he says he intends to accomplish, due to ego if for no other reason.

....” This is me bringing it up in its own thread as a small part of ensuring we all keep his run in perspective. ;-)”......

That's exactly how I see your thread......and thank you for posting this.

I believe those “afraid” of a Trump Presidency have reason to be so. We do know he's played all sides which isn't necessarily a bad thing in it's place. However... as President Trump would find himself in a “Power Structure” he hasn't a clue how to navigate.....

....Washington is not China nor is it Mexico....it's a completely different beast who's halls are filled with landmines Trump has no idea where they are.

.... No matter how this race plays out, should Trump enter that domain 'he will not know how or to whom' to delegate quickly enough to stop the tide that will be against him there. Thus Trumps association now with Cruz and Sessions and those like them will be "critical".

I prefer Cruz lead this nation as he already knows those Halls and the players, the mind fields and "the laws" which need changing.....no learning curve....Cruz can hit the ground running...he already has those who will mount up and ride that beast when he gets there.

Right now I will take Trump warts (and there are several, and all.

If the GOPe and media can take down Trump there is not one other conservative or moderate even that can stand up to them.

Leftist immigrants and leftist illegals are reaching the tipping point where they and the marxrist natives outnumber us who are for individual liberty and freedom.
Wait 'til the Marxist Pope gets here next month. They'll be all over him like white on rice.
I guarantee that amnesty will be his constant "Holy Message" and he'll paint us Americans as aloof, selfish and non-caring.

Frankly, I think there are strong odds we are headed for catastrophe regardless of who gets elected.

But one thing you said interests me: “Trump will not need to do that. He can put people in positions on merit, not as favors in exchange for favors in return.”

That can be a good thing or bad thing. It depends on what the leader has in mind. What concerns me the most about Trump is that he is a political chameleon, has a huge ego and a “my way or the highway” attitude.

I’ve said to young men who are engaged: “Look at how your future bride responds to people and events she is really angry with because at times it will be directed at you. Can you andle it?”

So I picture Trump performing his MO as president and imagine he is implementing something I - and most of congress - is strongly against. How will he respond? Will he be even worse than Obama? I don’t know, but these are questions worth trying to answer.

Again, I love what he is doing. I have to decide if I trust him. His comments about Christianity are not re-assuring.

I don’t think Trump has the slightest desire to be a brutal dictator or a strongman. But I do think he will be the strongman we want. Someone who will be a freaking brick wall against the uniparty corrupt advance.

Bush was an amoeba against them. SO was Romney. McCain is one OF them. Dole? Please. Bush I,, nope.

but we really must ask ourselves what he REALLY believes and what solutions he would attempt to implement and how he would respond to his political enemies on each issue - especially if WE are his political enemies on an issue

The worst case that I see is "sensible gun control" after a big massacre. He could bully enough pro-second reps to get something passed. OTOH, I do not see anything wrong with his pro-American or pro-capitalist stances. Those are essentially anti-authoritarian. A couple other commenters are decrying his nebulous or changed stances on moral issues. But once again those are pointing to authoritarianism, mostly the opposite.

The fact that he will actually do something about immigration should get him elected on that alone. None of the others will, not really. They’d get in office and worry about working with the other side, that’s how they roll.

But Trump doesn’t roll that way. If he promises to stop illegal immigration then, by God he’ll do it. If he doesn’t agree with me on every issue, that’s ok. None of them do.

Excellent post. It cuts to the heart of the article I posted and the function of the “strong man”.

Yes, I pay no attention at all to who Trump has praised or how. Telling Pelousy that she’s the greatest and wishing her good luck means zilch. The New York and Hollywood crowd tosses out superlatives like this so much that the words are meaningless. But for me, however, it raises questions about the person’s sincerity.

So far, Trump is the only person beating the media and upsetting the elites.

It’s the best thing that’s happened in politics since we woke up the morning of November 9, 1994.

I agree. And I LOVE it.

I’m just not sure I want him as president. I like Rush Limbaugh and a lot of conservative pundits but would not want them to be president.

Meanwhile, he is STILL controlling the vernacular and I LOVE IT.

That's what the Dems said about Reagan. But what's Trump gonna' do as Prez - push THE nuclear button?
Short of that, I can't think of anything he might do that could be worse that all the krap Øbama has done.
