I imagine Trump is kicking himself now for sliding into the crowded Republican race instead of the Democratic race. But who knew a few months ago that Hillary would implode leaving the Democratic race with NOBODY as a possible?
Sure Trump is enjoying a double digit percentage lead in the Repub polls, but imagine his ratings (75%? 85%?) if he ran basically unopposed as a Democrat?
I wish he ran as an independent from the beginning. He wouldn’t have to worry about the GOP removing him from the primary ballots like the are talking about doing in NC. They also got Ohio to pass a new election law where a candidate cannot be on the ballot there if he switches party after the primary.
If Palin and Cruz were running as democrats, would you support them?
Your meme ignores all the really really big differences of a Dim campaign and what he's doing. If he were running as a Dim, he would be truly unelectable.
As a matter of fact, he does.
I wouldn’t vote for George Washington if he was pat of that organization.
It must be a question. After all, he put a ? at the end of it.
You’re late to the thread. And you’re wrong.
Take a few and look at all the “yes” responses here.
“truly unelectable”?
Lots of FReepers would elect him.
I don’t judge a candidate only on what they say. I look at what they do/did.
With Trump, I look at his passion to improve this country. I see how his “brand” has been tarnished and rejected by the likes of Macy’s, NASCAR, and ESPN. He’s losing a lot of money, yet he’s not concerned, b/c he has a greater priority to improve our country. He is going against the grain, not getting caught up in PC politics, or backing down to a challenge.
You probably voted or voiced support for a lot of the Repubs in Congress that were either elected or re-elected in 2014 only to find they are no different than D’s. THOSE are your devils in disguise.
If Trump had tried to run as a Democrat, he would have worked almost as much mischief for the Democrat party as he is now doing for the Republicans.
Do not discount the fact that a LOT of the support for The Donald is coming from disaffected members of the Democrat party. And there is a HUGE surge in favor of The Donald coming from the “uncommitted” middle.
Now the winning of the “middle” has always been the stated objective of the Establishment, so for years they have made “conciliatory” moves, shifting ever closer to the liberal Democrat positions, because they seemed to believe that was the “winning strategy” to take votes away from the Democrats.
Here comes The Donald, sweeping in LARGE swathes of these supposedly uncommitted “middle” voters, and he isn’t even trying to pander to the blocs the Democrats have claimed as their own for years. In fact, many of the same things The Donald has adopted for his agenda were first articulated in some form or another by Tea Party activists. And yet, The Donald is not “Tea Party”, nor does he particularly take their counsel.
The Donald is achieving, almost overnight, the pledged objective of the Republican Establishment to woo over the “uncommitted” middle, a task at which they have NEVER succeeded.
And this must be making both the Republican Establishment and the Democrat plutocrats cuffing bat-guano crazy.
Why not? Rand Paul, like his father before him, is a Democrat, but self-described conservative Republican.
I'd support Trump againt other Democrat candidates, because it would be great to have him as their last man standing.
You didn’t mention what is probably the most important point;
would he be saying the very same things, same positions, issue the identical immigration paper, everything the same, with a D behind his name instead of an R?
I was going to respond to your comment right away and tell you how wrong you were.
But I decided to wait till the intensity of the thread cooled down and now that the thread is near 100 replies, you now have proof that this is no “hypothetical fail”.
So “Good luck next time” to YOU on your premature and erroneous posting.
” Would you still support Donald Trump if he was running as a Democrat? “ -—————
THAT is an excellent question. Should Trump go down there is Cruz, so that is a factor here, in my answer.
But, speaking for myself, usually the answer has to be “NO”, because any given Democrat is always at the mercy his donors, as are Republicans, and of their Pelosi styled DNC, and also the Wall Street pals who put him in place, and who would support Pelosi/Reid style candidates, and would place in position a sycophant cabinet.
None of that applies to Donald Trump as a “Democrat” candidate.
Given what Trump has said and the awakening he has brought, because he is independent, both financially and intellectually, I might wait awhile to support him, but yes, I could consider supporting Trump as a Democrat, early next year, all things remaining the same as today.
Next?
Trumps’ immigration policies are the same as the Democrat’s 1996 platform statements (which sound pretty good, really).
For me I vote conservative and if the choice were a conservative Democrat against a pro-abort, pro-gay, pro-illegal alien Republican I’d vote for the conservative.
I’m a Republican because I’m a conservative. If they change then so will I.

Yes he would.
Not taking away any of his points, his speeches, his diatribes against Megyn, etc. If Donald was saying and doing all the same things as a (D) and not an (R).....
Imagine a Cruz (R) v Trump (D) race. I’d support the heck out of both, celebrating a victory party every day of the runup to election day.
But all other things would not be equal if Trump was running as a democrat, so it’s an unanswerable question.

Don’t be so sure. If 5 years ago someone told you that Trump would be running as a conservative republican AND would have a runaway lead in the polls - would you have believed that?
>>Right! So vote for Ted Cruz!
What states are voting this Summer? We can have our fling until the serious campaigns begin in the fall.
And you know what? I think Trump will kick the rest of the GOP field’s butt then too becuase they aren’t ready to FIGHT. They’re running a Mr Nice Guy contest and the winner will face a vicious Democrat Machine that has turned politics into a full-contact bloodsport.
Yeah. He would do terribly on the dem ticket. He might be garnering a small but significant percentage of dems, but nothing CLOSE to taking the primary.
