If Trump was running as a Democrat, would you still support him? (Vanity)

I imagine Trump is kicking himself now for sliding into the crowded Republican race instead of the Democratic race. But who knew a few months ago that Hillary would implode leaving the Democratic race with NOBODY as a possible?

Sure Trump is enjoying a double digit percentage lead in the Repub polls, but imagine his ratings (75%? 85%?) if he ran basically unopposed as a Democrat?

This thread is beneath contempt.

It's a "gotcha" thread, trying, and failing, to be clever in making a point, while disguising it as a hypothetical. As I said, the type of thread that Megyn Kelly would start, if she applied her snarkiness to thread-starting as opposed to "journalism".

My answer would be, of course, yes. Just as in an equally silly hypothetical I would vote for Ted Cruz, were he to run as a Democrat. Sadly, for the OP, the hypothetical "would you vote for a Ronald Reagan freshly resurrected as a zombie, running in the Democratic primary?" is only slightly less absurd. But even in that case, I would vote for the zombie Ronald Reagan running in the Democratic primary, assuming that his time between being a living person and a zombie didn't significantly alter his political philosophy.

Bush
Christie
Graham
Kasich
Pataki
Rubio

Which one? We don’t know. From past history, it will be one of these.

Rubio. In my opinion, it will be Rubio. They are going to use is Favorable/Unfavorable ratio in the polls to try to push him to the top.

In the real world the USA is already history. Not only is the illegal horde swarming across the wide open border—they are doing so by invitation. Once they get here they are super-citizens, enjoying rights, privileges and benefits unheard of to US citizens. And the invasion is picking up steam by the day.

The Dems love it bc the invaders rape and murder US citizens at a devastating rate—and criminals vote Dem.

Also, the invaders suck up gov bennies at an astronomical rate, and the dependent class votes Dem.

Only one candidate spoke of the devastating human toll the invaders take on US citizens. Only one candidate has staked everything on a wall.

Those who think he is a Dem are psychotic.

Ease up dip-wad. If you want to take on me as a stinkin’ troll then you better cut/paste your pissy little whinings to the majority of other FReepers who validated this question as well.

Do you have your nose so far up Trumps (Obama) that any reasonable and rational questions about Trump sends you off in a bleeding frenzy?

Oh we HAVE been paying attention to Trump over the last few years. And his 180 degree flip-flops are what makes us nervous and uncertain.

I knew it right from the beginning (few months ago) that Donald Trump could draw many voters from the moderate and liberal ranks with his immigration and trade policies. There has been a nationwide simmering resentment over what the elite DemocratRepublican cabal has been doing and Trump has captured the moment for this “silent majority”. He used this phrase yesterday.

When a President Trump brings up anchor babies aka birthright citizenship how many American will oppose him on this unfair irrational policy? Very few in my book yet 90% of Americans were hazy or unaware of it until Trump started speaking against it. You go to Mexico and they all know what anchor babies are and how valuable they are. And how the stupid Gringo allows them automatic citizenship.

Trump is the man of the hour and for this hour and lets hope he gets elected. The cynical know it all chump who started this thread can vote for Hillary or Biden.

Ted Cruz remains the most conservative candidate in the race, and as such, he deserves conservative support

Oh he has that. However, that does not mean Donald is a liberal. Matter of fact those supporting Donald are not necessarily what we would call conservative. These people may not even consider themselves conservative. Donald is out for himself first and foremost, and I don't think that fact escapes many of the people who are rooting Donald on. But Donald has the money to do as he wishes, and is beholding to no one. That allows him to say and do what he wants. So let him speak and fire up the silent majority, who have been silent for waaaaaay to long. If Donald is sincere, and that doubt looms large for me, then he may be just what we (conservatives) need to get the country headed in a different direction. If he isn't then America will just keep sliding into the abyss. Electing one man President is hardly the salvation of this country, but just perhaps Donald may be able to do the things he is espousing. That would be because Donald Trump is a tough individual who presently has clout, and would posses even more as President. Could Cruz accomplish those things? Perhaps, but without Donald's wealth he would rely a lot more on others. Believe it or not though, Donald is actually helping to raise Cruz's ship.

At this point in time you need not worry yourself so much. There is a long way until the nomination process has completed. One thing for sure, this nomination process will turn out a lot different than the last two Presidential nomination processes.

Sit back and observe, trashing Donald at this point only increases his support.

‘[Its] the type of thread that Megyn Kelly would start, if she applied her snarkiness to thread-starting as opposed to “journalism”.’

If that doesn’t sum up the essence of what is wrong with this thread, nothing else does, can or ever will. I just hope Kelly doesn’t get wind of it; she will have a new arrow in her trademark bimbo quiver.

>>I bet your buddy had read ‘The Art of the Deal” (1987)

He had. There were a couple copies making the rounds through the boat. Trump had a lot of fans on the USS Scamp.

Ah, the good old ad hominem. Can’t engage me on the facts, so go liberal: I.e.: the gutter.

So here is a non-hypothetical question for you. Suppose you had a choice between throwing soccer balls and teddy bears at the illegal invaders, or putting up a fence to stop them once and for all. What would you do?

What he is doing is transparent. This question was designed to elicit people saying that they would vote for Trump as a Democrat (ignoring the fact that he does so in an absurd hypothetical, and that most who would do so, would also vote for Cruz as a Democrat, in an equally absurd hypothetical). This is a gotcha thread, so that later he can talk condescendingly about all those stupid Trump voters who would follow him regardless of his political affiliation, and it must be a cult of personality, they are low information voters, blah, blah, blah.

As I said earlier, it is the thread that Megyn Kelly would have started, if she had thought of it first.

I take the “trust, but verify” route with him. That’s all you can do. He is entitled to a fair go, and if he is honest(which right now I cant find anything saying he isnt), then we win.

A great summation of the phenomenon of Trump. You are a rational person, at least on non Apple threads :~)

Exactly. I do not make that assumption and haven’t are that assumption since the PATRIOT Act passed.

Now that’s a good question. I personally would say, that I would probably not support him, because that would tell me, that he’s a liberal. I would be full all out for Ted Cruz.

Being on the republican ticket puts him in our influence. He’s a flexible guy, so I think he has more room with us than with them.

I think a Trump/Cruz ticket would be perfect.

The gutter?

lolol. I do not resort to gutter retorts? My fantasy poke was mild and light compared to what I could unleash on you. But you and the other trumpees who suddenly showed up are amusing me. That dennis fool just stomped his foot and left in a huff. lolol

Answer to your question: The fence.
