Innocuous phrases Alison Parker used every day to describe her job may have led to her death, simply because Vester Lee Flanagan thought they were racist.
The 24-year-old TV reporter who was shot and killed by the disgruntled ex-employee on Wednesday somehow angered him by using terms like 'swinging' by an address or going out into the 'field' while she was an intern at WDBJ.
It sheds further light on the murderer's erratic behavior, details of which have emerged since he callously gunned down Parker and cameraman Adam Ward live on breakfast TV.
Flanagan, 41, clashed repeatedly with photojournalists, belittling them in public and intimidating them with his aggressive and violent temper, before he was fired in 2013.
But now colleagues have revealed his assumptions were 'crazy' and even described one occasion where he believed someone bringing a watermelon in for fellow staff was a racist joke directed at him. They were included in a complaint filed by Flanagan while Parker was working at the Roanoke, Virginia, station in 2012.
The report, seen by the New York Post, that was written by news editor Greg Baldwin read: 'One was something about 'swinging' by some place; the other was out in the 'field'.'
Parker, who was referred to by her middle name as Bailey in the documents, was never disciplined for the remarks.
But they appear to be the 'racist' comments Flanagan was referring to when he Tweeted in the aftermath of the deadly shooting.
Ryan Fuqua, a video editor at WDBJ, told The Post: 'That's how that guy's mind worked. Just crazy, left-field assumptions like that.'
'He was unstable. One time, after one of our live shots failed, he threw all his stuff down and ran into the woods for like 20 minutes.'

more basic, he was black, he was queer
he had been trained to be offended since birth
the blood is on Al Sharpton’s hands
Probably turn into another OJ. Blacks packed on the jury cheering him on. I’m glad he’s dead.
Don’t by into the “crazy” nonsense with this guy. This guy was not crazy by any stretch. He was just an @sshole at first ... and then he turned into a depraved killer.
“The inoffensive everyday phrases used by reporter Alison Parker that earned her a death sentence...”
The left has invented the concept of “racist dog whistles” “code words” and other “microaggressions” that signal racism. Whites have no way of knowing what these innocuous comments are and in fact they can be designated on the spot by any minority to put whites at a disadvantage. Working with blacks is like living next to a bomb and not knowing what might trigger it. And the left can’t understand why employers prefer to hire white folk.
he was US Govvie material.
I much know this is completely off topic but does anybody remember the gay dentist in Florida who purposely infected his patients with AIDS to draw attention to the fact that he was gay and had AIDS? I believe one of the patients was a young girl named Kimberly Bergalis. It was just horrific that somebody would do something because they obviously hated their own personal choices and what their own actions did to them.
” Flanagan, 41, clashed repeatedly with photojournalists, belittling them in public and intimidating them with his aggressive and violent temper, before he was fired in 2013. “
He was justified, because the photojournalists would always “white balance” the cameras as an act of “micro-aggression” against him.
#sarcasm
He was told by his fat boss that he was too fat for TV.
Being gay is what made him crazy, it’s just easier to sell racism.
Sorry, I don’t follow you there, WayneS...
It’s as though you’re saying that their personal and professional inaction in regards to his personal problems could be perceived as being racist and that reporting his behavior out of compassion would have been doing the right thing.
In my opinion, as co-workers, they didn’t owe him diddly-squat. Station management made the right call in terminating him and sometimes, that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.
In the twisted minds of the racially obsessed Left, everything is pure racism.
It's the same with any obsession. The obsessed see their fixation everywhere!
How about just plain old demon possessed. We make excuses for people who are evil and enjoy hurting others. It is just plain old evil of the most Bibical sort.
I have been reading combox reactions to the murders. More than a few blame the shooting victims for not being sufficiently sensitive to the racial/sexual vulnerability of their killer. That’s where we are as a country.
I heard a snippet quote of a person at the TV station who said of the murderer: “he was a professional victim.”
Micro aggression
Blacks are allowed to find racism in anything and everything and somehow whites are supposed to know what offends them on any given day.
We have an unstable crazy guy at our office. There was an incident with a weapon where I should have called the cops. I honestly would like to fire him regardless of the mania and instability.
But I refuse to fire him because of incidents like this. Hell I am afraid to quit because the company might fail without me. Either way crazy is sitting in his house thinking about me. No. Thanks. He’s allowed to work from home 4 days a week instead.
I’ve noticed that Fox has focused on the koo-koo theme - to the exclusion of the racial animosity element, at least in its news scripts (some of the commentators do mention it).
I don’t think so. I think we’re heading for a divorce where we’ll pay a tax for a common military, but the rest of the laws will be determined by either the free states territory or the nanny states territory. The Court is orchestrating an inevitable split.
