Once again, the left has exploited the ruminations of a grieving father to push gun control.
In an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo Thursday, Andy Parker, the father of slain WDBJ journalist Alison Parker, demanded that his daughter's death at the hands of a murderer may be a cause to bolster politicians into passing more gun control laws.
"If I have to be the John Walsh of gun control and -- look, I'm for the Second Amendment, but there has to be a way to force politicians that are cowards and in the pockets of the NRA to come to grips and make sense -- have sensible laws so that crazy people can't get guns. It can't be that hard," said Parker in reference to John Walsh, the man who created America's Most Wanted.
Parker also demanded that politicians get to work passing this gun legislation right away rather than giving him time to grieve.
"[P]oliticians from the local level to the state level to the national level, they sidestep the issue. They kick the can down the road. This can't happen anymore," he said. "And I know that the NRA, their position is going to be -- I can hear it now. They're going to say, 'Oh gee, well, if they were carrying, this never would have happened,'" Parker said.
"I've got news for you. If Alison or Adam had been caring an AK-47 strapped around their waist, it wouldn't have made any difference," he continued. "They couldn't have seen this thing coming. So I don't want to hear that argument from the NRA, and you know that's going to happen. And I'm going to take it on."
Andy Parker's statement echoes similar statements made by Richard Martinez, the father who lost his son during a shooting near the University of Santa Barbara in 2014. Both have now been used by the left to push gun control.
Mourn the reporter. Mock the father and boyfriend.
I hope they have enough soap to clean themselves up dancing on her corpse.
Andy Parker pulled the voting lever for “Hate America, Black Racist, Barack Hussein Obama and he got exactly what he voted for......his beloved, innocent, beautiful, talented, young, daughter, killed by a crazed, hateful, gay “Obama” son!!! Go figure!!!
And he’s advocating more of the same.
>>have sensible laws so that crazy people can’t get guns.
The shooter was a gay black man who saw discrimination in everything (aka “white privilege”). Yes, people who believe this sort of thing are crazy. So, would this guy support taking a black person’s guns as soon as they start imagining “white privilege”?
He lost his daughter. I feel terrible for him and the rest of the family. He probaby feels he has a righteous cause.....but he is not thinking. Statistically he should ban many other things before firearms. But he is a liberal and bought the Kool Aid.....and doesn’t understand the importance of the constitution
More control is definitely what is needed. But, control of racist black haters, not their weapons.
I've hunted and I've been hunted.
Sheep get eaten.
I watched him and fiancé on air. As a father of a daughter a little older than his daughter, I just am astounded at his demeanor. He and the fiancé seemed more interested in the agenda than the daughter.
This was a criminal act and I am not sure you can ever prevent them all.
In this case he should be against gay black derangement racism.
Guns are here mostly IMO in case we need to defend ourselves from government tyranny. Without guns we would be no gun Mexico where only a corrupt political class or criminal gangs and cartels have the guns over the innocent powerless people.
“look, I’m for the Second Amendment”
Yeah....except when you are not.
Maybe the answer lies in teaching that there are in fact moral absolutes so people don’t rationalize in their sicko heads that killing others with a gun knife or ball bat is somehow OK and justified because they are aggrieved.
Yeah?
"Shall not be infringed."
Now siddown and shaddup.
If his son was so distraught with bigoted racial hate able to commit premeditated work place violence towards whites, how did he get a gun in the first place? Haven’t yet heard what the cops said about the source and how he got it.
The cameraman had his attention on the scene in his view finder, not much seen outside a narrow range.
The reporter depended on others to see for her as to how she looked and where she stood and who she talked to... In her own little world... Easy to sneak up on these two. And with all the attention this gay narcissist is getting, i expect more of this... Sadly.
Heck....I guess so. I really never cared about that part anyway. Now he’s out of any legal recourse....no ring, no legal relationship....
I’m sure that the papa is gonna be suing the station and the store that sold this man a gun.
The guy, in that situation could have easily used a knife. Once the camera man was down, the woman would have been easily stabbed to death. How would a gun ban have saved her?
I'm a long time NRA member and I agree with this part of the rant.
Violent, crazy people should be locked up, not roaming the streets so that they can kill innocent people with guns or knives or hammers or cars or bare hands.
It was the left that ended insane asylums and dumped tens of thousands of crazies on the streets and make it almost impossible to lock up violent, mentally ill people.
Now blame the gun.
Or a meat cleaver.
