After Donald Trump finishes plastering a snarling face on conservatism, any Republican nominee will face a dauntingly steep climb to reach even the paltry numbers that doomed Mitt Romney.
It is perhaps quixotic to try to distract Trump’s supporters with facts, which their leader, who is no stickler for dignity, considers beneath him. Still, consider these:

I am moderate and I am for State’s rights. I am against the regime that is in place and has been in place. My family has been in this wonderful country since the 1700s. They worked hard and sacrificed to make it the best nation in history. I would like to see it regain that status. Just because you don’t get the Trump movement, doesn’t mean it is illegitimate.
And George Will can't figure out Trumps' appeal.
(John Boehner + Mitch McConnell) * (years of lying to the conservative base) = Support for Trump which the GOP establishment just can not get their heads around.
In my mind, Trump is as much about fixing the GOP and smashing PC’ness as anything. Any yes, I would take that to the full extent of voting for him.
The timing could not be better because if the Libs/Dems had so much as a decent candidate, I don’t think we could do this now.
