Pollsters dumbfounded by Trump
The Hill ^ | August 27, 2015 | Ben Kamisar

Polling experts agree on one thing when it comes to Donald Trump’s presidential run: They’ve never seen anything like it. His dominance of the Republican presidential race is forcing experienced political hands to question whether everything they know about winning the White House is wrong.

While political scientists and other experts continue to insist Trump will not win the Republican nomination, he’s converted at least one high-profile skeptic.

GOP pollster Frank Luntz had dismissed Trump from the start, and declared after the first presidential debate that his campaign was doomed.

But after convening a focus group Monday evening where Trump supporters showed an unflappable allegiance, Luntz changed his tune.

“This is real. I’m having trouble processing,” he said, according to Time.

“I want to put the Republican leadership behind this mirror and let them see. They need to wake up. They don’t realize how the grassroots have abandoned them,” he added.

First time out of the echo chamber for Luntz.

Something else I noticed about Trump and I think he even mentioned this - he changes up his speeches so they don’t get dull and boring. The others have a stump speech and say the same things over and over. I noticed that about Romney in 2012 - I could recite it as well as he could. Trump is people smart.

One thing the media and the pollsters and political strategists should all realize by now, Americans are sick and tired of being taken for fools and we’re disgusted with everyone we’ve have entrusted to represent us but who has instead deceived us and we are wise to games the media plays and we are finished with being used as pawns.

When you take people’s trust and violate it time and time again like that, you deserve what you have earned - vengeance.

When/If Trump is president, I hope he’ll launch serious investigations into all the deceptions/crimes by both political parties...we know the GOPe colluded with the Democrats to target conservatives. And we know that corruption runs far deeper than we have evidence of today. This must be a very serious threat, that they’re all thinking about...and that includes the collusions with the media and the EPA and the IRS and the DHS and the FBI and the ICE and the dept of HHS, to undermine the very fabrics of this nation.

It makes one wonder, knowing the depths of the corruption, just how long will Trump live?

The well-funded, slimy, lying, sell-out, Uniparty professional pol model is threatened by Trump.

That’s it, in a nutshell.

Trump started with huge name recognition coming from 30 years plus of biased MSM tut-tut liberals. So most people thought Trump a buffoon or a car salesman. Built in high negatives.

When people actually listen to him, unframed by the MSM elites, it’s a whole ‘nuther thing.

We have already had a third party president, Abraham Lincoln. May the Republican party go the way of the Whigs.

“Donald needs to turn the tables on the RNC & GOPe, making them swear to support him should he become the Republican nominee.”

Exactly! I bet in the contract discussions with GOPe, Donald is making sure some similar language is being included. If the GOPe does not agree with that, simply walk away from the table.

They don’t realize how the grassroots have abandoned them.

Because the Republican leadership first abandoned the grassroots.

I held my nose in 2008, I took a long shower to clean off the filth in 2012. If it happens again in 2016, I will plant more veggies, buy more ammo, store more water and watch the end of America unfold.

As much as I hate to say it, I'm with you on this one. And let's not forget The Great Betrayal of 2014, either. That's what did it for me.

No teleprompter = Connecting with the American people.

I am so sick of Obama's tennis-spectator avoidance of looking the American people in the eye.

Trump's ability to think on his feet is such a refreshing change, instead of the Obama methodology of prevaricating and postponing and deflecting and then relying on spokescritters to explain what he really meant.

I get the (maybe ridiculous) feeling that Trump is one of us - despite being a billionaire. How can this be? Maybe it’s because he’s spent his life building actual things.

In contrast George Will, Mitch McConnell and their types probably never elicited that feeling from most of us. But they presented the image that they knew what they were doing and it was the best for us but now we know that was just a charade.

It's why we also find British politicians sounding so smart! They can manage to string together a pile of their own words to give a motivating speech. We are so starved of that, we tend to think it's some sort of magic brilliance!

We listen to a speech from Obama and we are really hearing scripted words from John Favreau and other speech writers which have been peer reviewed, and canned.

They don’t care about their base anymore, they think they can win elections with the illegals vote. It is about as subtle as the nose on my face where their allegiance lies.
Gee, we cant stop Obama cause we don’t have the Senate, gee we can’t stop Illegal’s because we don’t have the White House, Gee we can’t stop spending cause we don’t have....?
We can’t stop money going to PP cause we don’t have the balls!!

Pollsters should never be dumbfounded by results...if they don’t have a political objective. They, of course, do.
