And babies do not have to die to supply the medical community. There is adult stem cells that can and have been retrieved. Also people are keeping and freezing umbilical cords for stem cells.
I am betting his parents are so leftist that they would rather see him dead than have the funding cut for Planned Parenthood.
Useless article. Doesn’t say whether it was embryonic, umbilical, or adult (or autologous or heterologous) stem cells, which is what the controversy has been all about.
I am wondering if the whole thing is fabricated
Yes. I am not aware of any advances that have been made using fetal stem cells that hasn’t been made with adult stem cells.
They conveniently leave those sorts of things out. If you will recall Michael J. Fox (little weasel that he is) did a campaign commercial for the Democrats on it, shaking and tremoring on camera. He later said in interviews that he purposefully stopped using his meds so the shaking would come back.
They are a despicable lot.
That was my thought too
The stem cells used for the transplant can come from blood, bone marrow, or umbilical cord blood. In most cases, stem cells from the blood are used.
There are 2 main types of stem cell transplants (SCTs) based on the source of the stem cells. In an autologous SCT, the patients own stem cells are used. In an allogeneic transplant, the stem cells come from someone else (a donor). The donors tissue type (also known as the HLA type) needs to match the patients tissue type as closely as possible to help prevent the risk of major problems with the transplant.
The kid should probably be writing to thank Rush Limbaugh. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Cure-a-thon does more to fund the research that this child benefited from that anything 0bama has ever done.
Furthermore, those objections were not simply based on religious/moral/ethical reasons. They were also based on the scientific fact that embryonic stem cell research has proved to be almost completely useless, with almost no significant medical treatments derived from them. (the "almost" is simply a "logic" qualifier; I'm not aware of "any" significant breakthroughs solely from embryonic cells). Medically and scientifically, embryonic stem cell research has been largely a "dead end".
The important advances and treatments have come from adult stem cells, and as others have noted, whatever need there is for research on embryonic stem cells can be adequately supplied by fetal tissue from the existing supplies which can be cultivated and maintained. It's not necessary to keep killing new babies to supply embryonic tissue.
The link between the rabid defense of embryonic stem cell research and Planned Parenthood's abortion mills has always been money. They have to maintain the cash market for dead baby parts. That's what the videos of Planned Parenthood staff talking about the various prices, etc. are all about.
Exactly. No one was proposing ending non-embryonic stem-cell research.
From this article, it seems like adult stem cells are used for Hodgkins Lymphoma treatment.
I too wonder if its somehow fabricated. From the article:
“At the time, Nore asked Obama whether he’d continue stem cell research during his presidency, to which the president responded he would.”
At the time, Nore was about 8 years old? What 8 year old kid knows about stem cell research and the controversy surrounding it?
The printing, punctuation, and general all round language leads me to believe this “letter” was contrived and is as phony as the person it is written to.
Yep, the left loves to conflate issues in order to promote their agenda.
This was no doubt adult stem cells that saved his life.
I believe nothing coming from the most transparent administration ever in the universe.
Exactly, it was adult stem cell research in action here, not embryonic stem cell research.
I am thinking that without a doubt, there are places in the world raising test tube babies, I am quite sure of this. The organs are harvested and the carcasses probably ground up for cosmetics.
Exactly. Because it doesn't specify, you can bet that it was adult stem cells.
