Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) was calling for new gun control laws on Wednesday, even before the man who killed a reporter and cameraman on live television was in custody. Those calls for gun control were later echoed by the grieving father and boyfriend of WDBJ reporter Alison Parker, as well as President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and others.
But Dana Loesch, the author of "Hands off My Gun" and a staunch Second Amendment supporter, said her life was once saved by a gun. "I don't want that right taken from me," she told Fox New's Megyn Kelly Wednesday night.
"We don't have a gun problem. We have a criminal problem," Loesch said. "We have a society that thinks it's completely permissible to shirk responsibility. We have people who have no problem with what Planned Parenthood does in terms of fetal parts harvesting. We don't teach a respect for life.
"We glorify violence in movie, music, film and books. This is what our society is. This is Frankenstein's monster. This is what society has created. It is a reflection of us. And as I said, criminals are always going to be with us. I've had my life protected with a gun. I don't want that right taken from me."
Loesch said the gunman is proof that evil exists. And she said if he bought his gun legally -- which he apparently did -- the problem becomes one of identifying people with mental illness.
"And if he passed a background check, and there had already been questions about his behavior, then the question becomes, why wasn't this reported as we saw in the Gifford shooting. You had an individual who had been kicked out of the community college that had been reported to the sheriff's office, nobody followed up on it. Virginia Tech, same thing.
"The problem, Megyn, that we see each and every single time is that you have an abundance of laws and you have people, including states and local officials who do not follow those laws. And I want to bring up something really quickly as well. Everyone is focusing on the gun. Can we also bring up the fact that this is a racially charged, racially motivated crime by somebody who had a grievance? And I think there is all too often a focus on the tool instead of the hate in someone's heart."
In a lengthy letter the gunman faxed to ABC News after the shooting, he admitted to being a very angry man: "I've been a human powder keg for a while...just waiting to go BOOM!!!"
According to the Associated Press, when the gunman was fired from Roanoke, Virginia, station WDBJ in 2013, he had to be escorted from the building by police "because he was not going to leave willingly or under his own free will," the station's former news director, Dan Dennison, was quoted as saying.
It all comes down to stop blaming legit gun owners for the crimes commited by others using a gun.
Plus the lack of faith is another factor.
Can we respect life when we have baby chopshops?

The problem is people whose “value system “ includes murder. Liberalism teaches that there are no values, no right and wrong.
WE (they) DON'T TEACH
They indoctrinate
Any guesses on how fast the DNC fax and email lists were fired up?
I would also caution against using the tired old "mentally ill" crap here, too. I see know evidence of mental illness here. I see plenty of evidence that this was just a f#%&ed-up speckled black homosexual who had full control of his faculties, knew exactly what he was doing, and was simply an evil man.
Good points.
Being a homosexual, lesbian, et al used be identified as a mental disorder - until, miraculously “normalized” by the gay leadership of the APA. Funny how that worked out.
Just my opinion, but I think we have a “medicate your kids because you don’t want to be a parent” problem. These kids are growing up never learning to deal with adversity on their own, and they’re snapping.
Watched the video and saw some of the comments that are just absolutely brutal.
Here is a real gem (rolling my eyes): “face the facts america... you let 4 old guys from 250 years ago determine everything you do in the year 2015 ... thats gallatically stupid”
Had to chuckle at Alisyn Camerota on CNN. She had on 2 guest commentators to discuss the need for more gun legislation/gun control, due to the shootings yesterday morning.
Both guest commentators said basically the same thing: More laws would not have prevented what happened. If a perp wants to get a gun, waiting periods and registration periods are not going to stop them.
Camerota had to pick up the banner and carry the ‘more laws/gun control’ banner across the finish line. She tried to impose the ‘feelgoodism’ argument and neither guest bit.
Then, she tried to turn the subject to criticizing Donald Trump for his views on gun control. Neither guest took the bait.
By the end of the segment, Alisyn did not have her ‘happy face’ on.
Whatever happened to her? was she abducted by leftist space martians and suffers from Stockholm syndrome?
Let me guess. The killer was a registerd DemocRAT like the others. Shouldn’t RATS be the ones not having guns? Just curious.
‘We Don’t Have a Gun Problem...We Don’t Teach a Respect for Life’
Over the years respect (and enforcement) of the laws of our country, states, counties and towns has been so severely eroded by political correctness that they are actually useless in our liberal society of today.
No one is held accountable for anything anymore. Our courts (up to the Supreme Court) are a joke and resemble soap operas and circuses.
In the old world (prior to 1964) people obeyed laws as a rule and offenders were actually punished by jail time. Until that time, if a police officer was pursuing a criminal and shouted “stop or I will shoot” the criminal knew that the policeman would actually shoot. Today a cop would not even say those words and if he did he would only pop them with a BB gun at most...and then be fired anyway.
Our society has become one with exceptions to any and all rules, no matter what. No one is held accountable for their own actions and “punishment” is generally non existent.
No wonder we have the problems we have today.
“We have a society that thinks it’s completely permissible to shirk responsibility. We have people who have no problem with what Planned Parenthood does in terms of fetal parts harvesting. We don’t teach a respect for life.”
And it all starts with the queer mulatto in the People’s House.
