Trump: George W. Bush’s Best Moment Was When An Iraqi Threw A Shoe At Him
Daily Caller ^ | 8/26/15 | Steve Guest

Posted on 08/26/2015 5:08:23 PM PDT by markomalley

Donald Trump believes the moment an Iraqi reporter thew a shoe at George W. Bush and Bush didn’t blink “may have been his best moment if you want to know the truth, that is very sad to say.”

Trump appearing on the Hugh Hewitt Show Wednesday stated that if Jorge Ramos, who interrupted Trump Tuesday “had a microphone, he would have blasted everyone out of the room” since he was “shouting so loud.”

Hugh Hewitt: Yeah what he did, it was not professional. I’ve been doing this for 25 years. It wasn’t professional, but it wasn’t professional for him and it was also very successful for you because of the way you handled it. And I was actually reminded, do you remember when the Iraqi threw the shoe at George W. Bush and he didn’t blink and he just carried on?…

Donald Trump: Yes.

Hewitt: That’s what it reminded me of and you see why?

Trump: Well that may have been his best moment if you want to know the truth, that is very sad to say. But the truth is, I didn’t think in terms of television. I just said you know, “Who is this guy that is screaming.” I don’t think… I think when you’re doing a lot of live television, you don’t necessarily think that you are on live television, but that was live all over the place. And I just thought it was inappropriate. The first thing I thought was it was really unfair because there was so many people, with good, sitting with their hands up, wanting to ask questions and this man was standing up and really shouting quite loud. Now you didn’t hear the extent of it because he did’t have a microphone. Had he had a microphone on and yet you still heard him because he was shouting so loud.

Hewitt: Yeah.

Trump: But if he had a microphone, he would have blasted everyone out of the room. So, it worked out fine. And it probably was good for him. And actually at the end, by the time we finished, I mean I did’t think he was such a bad guy. I’m glad I invited him back because I think maybe I would have been criticized if I didn’t invite him back because you know some people, you know the concept of getting him out, which people didn’t mind but I think they wanted him back. So it was an interesting evening, that I can tell you.

That was my favorite, too.

Not so much the last two years of the second presidency, as soon as the mid-term election he’s been declared Lame Duck.

Tramp is missing something called grace.

GWB was tested after 9-11 like no other president since the 60’s. Much of it he handled with grace. Overall obviously he fell short. Where he fell short wasn’t due to a lack of love of country like the present White House occupant.

Not what Michael Yon said. And, no, it would not have been "poetic justice." It would have been criminal, and the guy should have been shot.

The Reduction in Forces was not a REMOVAL of forces, any more than we ever removed forces from Germany. We will need that base to take out Iran, regardless of what Cheney said 20 years ago when the situation was much different.

Bush was one of the few people who had a real vision beyond just "pacify Iraq." He understood that Iran and Syria had to be dealt with . . . and still do.

The biggest mistake was not doing this in 1991.

By the way, Bush’s finest moment was surfing troops into Iraq while the gutless left and spineless right were crying like little girls to bring the troops home because the polls went south. The gutless draft dodging Trump was one of those pukes nipping at Bush’s heels. POS.

Almost right. We should have done Iran in 1979 when they took hostages and I was still in the Army.

I thought Bush did a good job playing dodge.

The shoe guy was throwing strikes, too.

I’m sorry, did not mean to type “Tramp” for “Trump”... It really was a typo...

Got to remember that in that part of the world, it would be risky to have taken a trip anyways. Plus also to throw a shoe in the Arab world is their way of giving the middle finger, so I am not surprised.

“Where he fell short wasn’t due to a lack of love of country like the present White House occupant.”

As Texas governor Dubya flew out to California back in 1994 while grassroots Californians were working hard to pass an illegal alien control act, Prop 187.

Dubya joined with Jack Kemp and Bill Bennett and various other RINO scumbags to side with illegals against the citizens of California. So yeah, he did lack love of country just like his idiot brother La Raza Jeb! The 9-11 terrorism threw a wrench in Dubya’s plan to push for amnesty even sooner than he did.

The Reduction in Forces was not a REMOVAL of forces, any more than we ever removed forces from Germany.

You are factually incorrect on that one.

All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011. -- U.S.-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement, 2008 (signed on November 17, 2008 and effective on January 1, 2009)

I'm surprised there are still some people left here on FreeRepublic who actually believe the bullsh!t they were sold by their own government during the administration of George W. Bush.

They threw shoes at Saddam too.

Netter than what ISIS is bringing the world.

You’re an ill informed gutter snipe. Abu Abbas, Abu Nidal, Ansar Al Islam. Do you have any idea who they were, what their mandate was and where they were given sanctuary? We’re you cool with Hussein paying bounty for American and Israeli scalps? Sending sam’s and ackack at our Air Force?

I could go on but what’s the point, you swallowed leftist bs whole.

I got the impression he was talking as far as the press was concerned with the shoe thing.

In the Arab world, the bottom of the shoe is a sign of no respect, so that is why they get thrown.

"Well that may have been his best moment if you want to know the truth, that is very sad to say."

The radical left had the same attitude about Bush.

We fought a war with Iraq where hostilities ceased based on Iraq agreeing to specific terms. Iraq was violating those terms on numerous fronts. Killing Kurds, blocking inspections, shooting missiles at our planes, etc. There was plenty of justification to go after Hussein.

The primary mistake Bush made was attempting nation building in a third world hell hole. We should have made it our mission to take out Hussein's regime, rebuilt nothing and left. And then used that as an example to other countries like Iran what would happen if they screw with us.

Regardless, it won’t be the last time we are there. When you don’t win a war, you just go back and fight it all over again. Next time, we won’t have a base within a few hundred miles of Tehran, either.
