LOS ANGELES, CA, August 25, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – The GOP's leading presidential candidate said that he has been to a gay "wedding" and that conservatives should accept the Supreme Court's redefinition of marriage.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Donald Trump was asked whether the issue of marriage's redefinition is "a dead issue for the GOP at this point."
"Some people have hopes of passing amendments [to the U.S. Constitution]," said Trump, "but it's not going to happen. Congress can't pass simple things, let alone that. So anybody that's making that an issue is doing it for political reasons. The Supreme Court ruled on it."
In June, Trump told CNN's Jake Tapper that he had evolved on the issue of marriage, and supports "traditional marriage." At the time, he was pressed by Tapper on whether Trump's three marriages undermined his position.
"They have a very good point," said Trump. "I have a great marriage. I have a great wife now. And I – my two wives were very good. And I don't blame them. But I was working, maybe like you, 22 hours a day."
"I blame myself because my business was so powerful for me. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing," he said.
Trump told the Reporter that he had been to the gay "wedding" of Broadway theater owner Jordan Roth.
Which issue is more important to you? Trying to repeal gay marriage or trying to stop the illegal immigration?
Sometimes you have to choose.
The way I see it, presidential races are run on Congressional issues. Utter nonsense if Congress was doing its job, but perfectly sensible in that Congress just does what the highest bidder tells it to do.
Pretty tacky to attack on different threads. What do you think he should do or say about Homosexual Marriage? What is your candidate doing about it?
You really think you are superior to everyone else. We already knew where he stood on this and is not one of his big issues. He is right on abortion and immigration.
Do you have a problem with Cruz wanting more legal immigrants or that his wife worked for Goldman Sachs and the CFR? Do you question where he is getting his funding and who will control him? There is no pure candidate.
Pray America is waking
Unbelievable! What they pulled off is a revolution. Speechless!
“Trump supporters really picked a conservative winner!”
No one else has demonstrated themselves to be a conservative winner according to the polls. I like Cruz but he hasn’t caught on. Obviously we have a crisis in leadership here and worldwide.
Those exact words: No one. Those exact sentiments, quite a few of the sTrumpettes.
“Who here besides you have said any of that?”
Oh, there are plenty... if not outright statements, there is a plethora of direct comparisons of Trump to Reagan.

You really are ignorant aren’t you? Look at what happened to the cake bakers and florists who refused to bow down - and this was before the SC ruling too. We need to pass laws to protect religious freedom as granted in the 1st Amendment and by this I mean to protect those who object to marrying or being forced to serve those with who we object. If you read the Bible, the Apostle Paul lumps homosexuality in a group of sins - adultery, etc. Sin is sin!
My concerns are JOBS, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION...the rest doesn’t matter to me...gay marriage is a state issue.
You're not actually equating Trump to a conservative, are you? He's many things, but "conservative" isn't one of them.
Don’t try logical thinking on those who have decided that Trump is just Obama in white-face.
These are the people who would rather nominate McCain or Romney again, than EVER go off the GOPe plantation!
Two guys or gals getting married ..... I hate it, and it disgusts me, but whatever.
Hoardes of illegals breaking into the country, killing people, stealing jobs, bankrupting the country -— Horrific!! I don’t know how any of us will survive this as a country!!
Let’s face it ... Our country is highly dysfunctional. All of these things are problematic, but I can’t fight every battle, just like I can fight every battle with my own kids each and every day. I have to prioritize.
Which battle do we want to fight? Can we afford to fight all of them at once?
> “”Some people have hopes of passing amendments [to the U.S. Constitution],” said Trump, “but it’s not going to happen. ***Congress*** can’t pass simple things, let alone that.”
I agree. But we don’t need Congress to do that. The COS Project will bypass Congress and get it done in record time because most states will already have proposed it so that ratification will be a done deal.
The Article V movement is growing like crazy right now. There are 7,398 state legislators and thousands met in San Diego last month. They are now drawing up rules for an Article V Caucus to propose needed amendments to the US Constitution.
Donald Trump always comes around when he is more completely informed. That’s why he needs Ted Cruz who is well aware of the Article V movement brewing among state legislators.
So this opinion report piece is in the category of ‘Donald Trump is correct on a subset of the information but not correct in the universe of information’.
He’s speaking the hard cold truth here, like it or not. You really need overwhelming majorities to pass an amendment, and it doesn’t exist. I’ve said the same basic thing, when candidates talk about an amendment they are just pretending to be doing something about it. If Congress was serious they would simply pass legislation limiting the Supreme Court’s jurisdiction per Article III. But they won’t. In any case the president has zero to do with passing constitutional amendments.
Beautiful, thank you so much. Keep ‘em coming!
I’m now fully aware of what America is up against.
That is the rosiest or scenarios and when Ted tells me I can trust DT to hold the lines that MUST be held, then I agree - unbeatable.
Wouldn't it be something to see that coalition announced after Iowa / New Hampshire and before the Southern primaries?
Juggernaut.
He’s right
THAT is the fight that needs to be waged now, the one over religious liberty and whether small business owners/artists will be allowed to live according to their conscience and deeply held moral and religious beliefs, when it comes to their active participation in an act/event they hold a conviction-based objection to.
Thats not a settled issue. It’s front and center and we deserve to know where the candidates stand and what they plan to do about it.
I just want a president who will work within his constitutional means to do what he can as a mortal man.
