Chris Leavitt, who ran a campaign for Republican Ed Gillespie last year that nearly upset incumbent U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, will be a consultant to Scott Walker's presidential campaign, according to a press release Tuesday.
Walker's staff already announced that state Sen. Mark Obenshain would be Virginia campaign chair for the Wisconsin governor. Leavitt also managed Obenshain's campaign for attorney general in 2013, in which Obenshain lost to Democrat Mark Herring in a close race.
In a statement, Leavitt said: "It is a privilege to join Gov. Scott Walker's campaign for president. I believe Gov. Walker is the leader our country needs in the White House. He is a fighter, a winner, and he's proven time and time again that he won't back down in the face of a challenge. I look forward to the opportunity to build upon his already strong base of support, spread his winning message, and work toward victory in 2016."
Walker will be in Virginia on Saturday. This post will be updated with more details.
Waxing Poetic or Poetic Justice...
You really are a good soldier, but Walker is toast. This pick confirms it.
Could be.
But Ted seems to be a stronger character, more firm on his goals.
Walker seemed to be that way too. What he has had to endure in Wisconsin shouldn’t have happened to his dog.
He should be President as a consolation prize. And John Chisholm should be imprisoned for the Stasi SOB he is.
But I think Walker is unsure of himself on the national stage and going with the flow is what will bolster him in his mind. Had hoped he would walk his own path.
Illegal immigration is the issue of this age. It will decide whether America exists or not as a sovereign country, or simply devolves into a Banana Republic complete with little tinhorn dictators wearing sunglasses and epaulets.
If a Republican presidential candidate cannot see that then he is either blind or craven. You can’t just dismiss it as No Big Deal and then waffle.
Had hoped that Walker would come down hard and stand firm. He may not understand it, but if he does not, Mexico will perceive him as weak and ruthlessly exploit that.
You cannot be weak in Latin America. If you are weak, you are dead.
And going along with the squeamish CoC types and the Bush family is going to make us all that way.
