Military Sources, "About 50 N. Korean Submarines Left Their Bases...Can't be Located"

2015.08.23 15:23

/begin my translation

Dozens of N. Korean submarines left their bases at both Eastern and Western coast, and can't be located. Military are increasing their surveillance capability to track them, it is confirmed.

That accounts for 70% of (N. Korea's) submarine fleet, which totals 70 ships. This is the largest rate of deployment since the Korean War.

Military sources said, "This is 10 times more than their normal deployment level. Dozens of them left their bases at both coasts, and we are unable to track them."

They said, "70% of their submarine fleet is not located. We are increasing our surveillance capability to find them."

They suspect that the unusually high level of N. Korea's submarine movements may be for further military provocation, and raised their level of alert.

N. Korea also more than doubled its front-line deployment of artillery power, since the high-level talks began.

The sources said, "Since the talks began, their front-line artillery power has more than doubled."

China poised to do a repeat of crossing the Yalu? Crap!

There has been a lot of friction between the PRC and the DPRK in recent years. I'm not sure if a PLA force crossing the frontier would be in support of a DPRK action, or in fact attacking North Korea. The PLA has massed in the N. Korean border on several occasions in recent times, and it wasn't to help them.

Also pondering some variables- Chinese economic interests have taken a beating between a couple of big industrial accidents and the economic issues they've been having. The last thing that they might want is the NK Cabal starting a war that draws (through our presence and treaty obligations with other nations) the world into Korea. Establishing a Kim-free Chinese protectorate might be cheaper than a major war.

I don't know. I'm just a stressed out guy with a jaw infection that can't sleep. I don't see a second war on the Peninsula playing out the same way as the last.

I am going to say “almost all.”

Heck, look up “journalists guide to firearms identification” if you haven’t seen it already, for a laugh.

Beyond that, most journalists are innumerate, from what I’ve seen in reporting.

NK subs are crap, like converted LP tanks with outboard motors.

If they sent 50 to sea (highly doubtful they have that many) then 48 of them were midget subs and, 40 of them have likely already sunk to the bottom.

I just remembered who runs the military. We hate the state and management of our nation, too.

“They have 50 subs ?”

That’s what I’m thinking. Im guessing most of them broke down or sank before they cleared harbor...

“NK subs are crap, like converted LP tanks with outboard motors.”

60’ long with a crew of 20. How big is your LP tank?

One of these sank a S Korean warship several years ago totally undetected. They carry Russian homing torpedoes with a 600 pound explosive charge.

Yup, junk, and no threat./s

Good morning.

Thank goodness that US troops are nowhere near the border where they could be shelled in their barracks in the middle of the night.

The 1st Cav is no longer on the DMZ?

I stll remember US military tiptoeing around a joint HQ after a ROK officer pulled out his sidearm and executed a ROK enlisted guard who had fallen asleep at his post

The way they treated their own military was fierce so South vs North would be absolutely brutal

Chew a clove or four of live garlic, if you can stand it.

Small subs benefit from shallow waters and they have a shallow sea. Wise investment.
