The defense secretary has an incredible opportunity to usher in the end of legalized sex discrimination in the military.
As tens of thousands of women have proved over 13 years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, women are capable of the combat skills necessary to fight alongside their male counterparts. The question now is whether to give women the opportunity to compete for coveted combat arms assignments, such as infantry and special forces.
Since the Pentagon formally rescinded the combat exclusion policy in 2013, well over 100 women have successfully passed the Marine Corps’ enlisted infantry school and two female officers will graduate from the Army’s elite Ranger School this week — debunking three long-held cultural myths: that women don’t want these jobs, they are mentally and physically too weak for these jobs, and training standards have to be lowered for women to do these jobs.
But as of yet, none of these female warriors can legally be assigned to infantry or other combat arms billets for which they have proved themselves qualified. It’s like surviving the trials of medical school and being told you can’t be a doctor.
Defense Secretary Ashton Carter needs to ensure the following happens going forward if he wants integration efforts to create a stronger fighting force:

The underlying assumption being that the country has no serious enemies - so why fight seriously?
Of course it’s about money. Money and power and destroying the U.S. Military.
You have a group of females who think that they are doing their gender a favor by pushing to get into Combat Arms. They have been told by the enemies of the U.S. Military that women are being mistreated because most of the generals are Combat Arms. They have to be. At their level they are moving huge Infantry, Armor and Cavalry units. They need to come with the experience of leading smaller Combat Arms units.
So these females believe that males are deliberately excluding them from Combat Arms units so that males can have the general slots.
And nothing anyone can say or do will change their feelings.
And any male arguing against them is automatically a bigot.
So, give them ALL of it.
How many females have you heard stand up and say this is a bad idea? Very few.
But it’s females that will have to put an end to this. Right now, it’s all good for females. They pick and choose where they want things. Give it ALL to them.
Make it mandatory that every female between the ages of 18 and 55 register with the Selective Service with the clear understanding that they can be drafted into the Infantry and take part in close combat.

Just out of curiosity, why weren’t the myths retired over the 40 yrs or so that the left has been pushing this PC stupiditt? (And when are the myths in the NFL, NBA, NHL, PGA and Baseball going to be retired?)

During WWII, the US had roughly 10% of the entire population in uniform; that would be 20% of all males.
An even higher percentage of military-age males.
Toward the end, we were drafting men with flat feet, half-blind, half-deaf.
Roger Young was a good example.
But we never sent women to fight.
Nor should we have.
Somebody needs to write a new stanza for Tommy:

I didn’t see anything in the article about lowered standards, but you can tell they were setting this up.
Maybe if one was Ronda Rousey.
Lyudmila was exceptional. She was definitely located on the far-right tail of the female bell-curve.
The two females who just “graduated” from Ranger School are probably also on the far-right tail; though, not as far-right as Lyudmila was.
The problem is that the supporters of “Women-in-Conbat” are comparing far-right-tail women to middle-of-the-bell-curve men.
Let’s compare the two new Ranger grads to the best of the male Ranger grads. Then what? No comparison?
Let’s also compare women from the middle of the female bell-curve to men from the middle of the male bell-curve. The middle of the male bell-curve being the location of most of the draftees in WWII and Vietnam.
Again, no comparison.
How far will the hierarchy go in terms of resources, time and the surreptitious loosening of standards to create the first female Navy Seal, or the first female Marine Raider?
And what will they prove?
