He has a ‘realpolitik’ view of the world. I love it!

How eerie. He could be talking about this administration. He sure was right about what happened after we left Iraq.

It’s from 2003/2004 time frame. Interesting that he said we should get out of Iraq. Declare victory and leave.

It is difficult to refute what Trump was saying in that interview, however the issue of intelligence regarding WMD in Iraq was not flawed, Saddam had an ongoing nuclear program, the Israelis put a major hurt on that program at Osirak back in ‘81, and we ALL know (or should know by now) that the components and resources for the Iraqi nuke program were convoyed OUT of Iraq and into Syria prior to the U.S. invasion, which is why Israel ended up bombing that Syrian nuke facility a few years later (the one being partially staffed by North Koreans).

I maintain that Saddam Hussein and his vile offspring Uday and Qusay were a pox and a cancer upon the Iraqi people and the day they were all sent into the next life was a VERY good day for Iraq. What went wrong is that the plans for occupying and managing post-Saddam Iraq were totally screwed up from the inception. We should have used the Japan model that worked so well when MacArthur became the military governor, and totally reconstructed Iraqi society in the same way, and ALL of that Iraqi oil should have been sold to underwrite the cost of the U.S. liberation of that country and the following occupation and rehabilitation.

Ordinary people are allowed to continue to grow in their understanding of how the world works but billionaires are assumed to have everything figured out and thus never change their thinking on matters.

Maybe, regardless of his wealth, Trump has realized l, just like we have, that this country is under attack from within and thankfully he has the money to directly try to do something about it.

I’m probably going to be the only person to say this, on this thread, so here’s your chance to disagree with me.

1. Trump stated that we shouldn’t have gone into Iraq
2. He stated that Hussein killed terrorists in his nation
3. He stated that there was a civil war, and it would never be peaceful
4. He stated the follow-on president to Hussein would be worse
5. He stated that he has been vindicated on everything

1. We had been attacked by 19 people taking down the Twin Towers. The world was watching. Included, were terrorist organizations thinking we couldn’t do much about it. We did much about it. Like it or not, we went after the biggest loud mouth terrorist supporter on the planet. Hussein constantly make speeches which included urging terrorists to strike at the United States. He constantly said he would help them any way he could. True or not, that wasn’t going to go unresponded to after 09/11. It shouldn’t have.

2. Hussein was responsible for the deaths of many people in his nation. Trump says he killed terrorists. If he killed any terrorists, it was more than likely a lucky strike on innocents that bagged some bad guys too. And those bad guys were more than likely good guys by Western standards. They would have been against Hussein. Hussein killed on a whim. His sons did. They were feared, respected, and loathed. People danced in the streets when they were removed. People know Hussein and his sons for what they were. Trump still doesn’t get it.

3. Around to 2003/04 time frame, it was the popular belief that there would never be peace in Iraq, because warring factions of Islam would not live peacefully together. Trump deserves some slack here, but ultimately, he was wrong. Until Isis came along, Iraq did live in relative peace compared to the Hussein years. People weren’t being persecuted. Large groups weren’t being liquidated. The government was stable. This isn’t to say things were perfect, but for Iraq things were pretty good.

4. Has the two follow-on presidents to Hussein been worse? I’m not a big fan, but it would be ridiculous to state they has been worse. They have not been abusing the Iraqi people. It hasn’t been reported in the Western press that they has been a scourge in anything approaching the actions of Hussein. The neighbor nations have been more safe. They hasn’t been sabre rattling. They haven’t threatened Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, or even Israel that I can recall.

5. No, actually he hasn’t.

Iraq is a better place today for it’s citizens, it’s neighbors, and Western civilization.

I know that Isis has come in and caused trouble. Iraq seems to be retaking territory. Hopefully Isis will be removed.

We had intended to leave 10-15,000 troops in Iraq. It would have been a stabilizing force. I doubt Isis would have been able to do anything near what it accomplished, if Obama hadn’t pulled out.

To Trump’s credit, he did touch on an important topic in other public statements. He said we should have billed Iraq for our costs. He was exactly right to say this, and that alone shows him acumen for avoiding big debt for the United States.

I hope this goes viral. How could anyone watch it and not be convinced that Trump should be President?

Trump is the ONLY candidate who can fight the influence of lobbyists because he does NOT NEED lobbyists.

Even Ted Cruz is pushing for increasing H1-B visa’s FIVE fold. Because his rich donors need that cheap labor express.

You think exactly like any individual who has never lived in a Muslim country. As opposed to you, I grew up in an area in India which was predominantly Muslim. My best childhood friends were Muslim kids. I had first hand exposure to their families, and their religious beliefs.

Saddam was simply trying to survive against a much stronger enemy, Iran. United States actually helped Saddam to stay in the fight with Iran.

Trump or any one else never said Saddam was an angel. But what Saddam was doing very effectively was keeping the Jihadi’s under control. And the Iran backed Shia under control.

In retrospect, I am amazed at the vision of Trump regarding post-Saddam Iraq.

The fact that he is a rich businessman is a huge selling point for numerous reasons. Which is why the establishment isn’t harping on that point too much anymore.

Actually, I am convinced he missed it on every point but one. That one comment didn’t come from the interview at the top of the thread.

Was Iraq a direct threat to it’s neighbors after the war?
Was Iraq enmeshed in a broad civil war before ISIS blew through?
Had Iran over-run Iraq and taken land?
Was Iraq still threatening to destroy Israel?
Was the leader of Iran encouraging terrorism against the Untied States or other Western nations?

The answer to all those questions is no.

To me, the real question is who’s got the vision and the guts to steamroll the politically correct and get us back to where we need to be?

It’s nice to have all the right convictions, but if you can’t navigate around the media lies and liberal attacks to score some victories, what good is it?
