After telling an NBC reporter unambiguously that he supported ending birthright citizenship, Scott Walker on Friday changed his mind, saying his new position is that he has no position, that he is now undecided again. He's saying that this isn't a reversal, merely that he misspoke because he was tired.
How do you misspeak support for ending birthright citizenship? Look at this video where he is clearly asked whether he would end it, and Walker says, "Yeah, absolutely." No ambiguity there. This is not a minor, technical issue. This is not a slip of the tongue. Scott Walker was clearly saying last week that he supported ending the mechanism that creates anchor babies. Now he's changed his mind. Here's his position on the issue for August 21st:
Im not taking a position one way or the other, Walker said in an interview with CNBCs John Harwood. Im saying that until you secure the border and enforce the laws, any discussion about anything else is really looking past the very things we have to do.

The GOP will say anything to get elected. Remember McStupid going to the border in Arizona and whining about illegal immigration when he wanted to be elected Senator.
Soon as he got in, he was open border, full tilt. Now they have Mexican drug lords claiming territory in Arizona. Not a peep out of McBackstabber. He could care less.

Had Walker pegged all along, GOPe boy.
The cheap labor express is reining in all their boys.

Well, he’s a GOPe boy who has saved lives as even Christie has along with Jindal and Perry.
But cheer for the do-nothings if that is one’s thing.

I highly recommend Veep on HBO with Julia Louis Dreyfus as a clueless, nasty GOPe vice president who winds up president. They do a really good job of showing the behind the scenes of why politicians look like such idiots in front of the camera.

The problem is nobody knows what “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” means. It is a legal term, and it should be explained for lay people more.

HE stood up to the unions and the recall backlash. It was brilliant. He does seem out of his league now. Probably angling for a VP slot. I don’t think he’ll get it. Pretty good guy though.

His donors directed the change.
And Walker is absolutely dependent upon his donors.
This should tell everyone everything they need to know about Scott Walker.

"we trash one of our own for something this minor?"
Walker is not one of us.
He is GOPe all the way.
And, it's OK to burn those folks at the stake without remorse.

People are rightfully focused on this:
Im not taking a position one way or the other, Walker said in an interview with CNBCs John Harwood.
But they should also let him make his point:Im saying that until you secure the border and enforce the laws, any discussion about anything else is really looking past the very things we have to do.
I think he's right about that. Until the Federal government starts upholding the amnesty law passed back in '86, of securing the border and enforcing immigration law, any position about anchor babies be pandering at best.
Haven't we FReepers been saying for the longest time exactly that? Secure the borders, enforce the laws, and then we'll deal with the remaining problems? If the enforcement had been practiced since 1986, anchor babies wouldn't be issue.
Folks are right that Walker's words make him sound weak. But I think he's just putting the cart behind the horse.

"He is correct that the first thing to do is secure the border"
BS!
The first thing to do is build an impenetrable wall from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico.

The most important issue facing the nation is that the nation is beyond bankrupt.
Illegals are one aspect of that problem, being a major parasite sucking wealth away from Americans by the hundreds of billions every year.
