Who would you rather have sitting across from Putin?
Trump might not be the best guy for the job, but he wouldn't get walked over by Putin.
Of course there might not be a room big enough for their two egos or attitudes.
(Of course, for the life of me, I can't figure why Trump is running. Power? Prestige? Future money? Spoiler?)

My guess, it’s patriotism pure and simple. Like most of us with memories going back to the 1950s he remembers a better America and he wants it back.

. Reagan was the guy. Now Trump is. Equating Trump with Reagan on a site where anyone can read it should be a criminal offense.
If Trump is the GOP nominee I'm through with the party from the courthouse to the White House. I would just as soon vote for an escapee from a state penitentiary as I would for Trump. If he's the GOP nominee all 6 voters in my family will change our voter registration from Republican to Independent.
Not that our 6 votes will make any difference in this or any future election, but at least we will have expressed our utter disgust for both major parties even if our ballots end up in a circular file.

These pundits must have flunked junior high school math. Whereas Trump is holding steady at 25%, who is dropping in poll numbers?
Bush, Walker, Rubio, Paul, etc have dropped the most since Trump entered the fray. Carson and Cruz have gained.
Only a knucklehead will conclude Carson’s votes have come or will come from Trump.

He seems like a nice man, but few surgeons are humble and a humble retired doctor does not run for president. His comment was somewhere between silly and offensive.

I consider Carson to be a brilliant surgeon. Presidential worthy? Not so much.
He’d make a better Surgeon General.

If Trump is the GOP nominee I'm through with the party from the courthouse to the White House. I would just as soon vote for an escapee from a state penitentiary as I would for Trump. If he's the GOP nominee all 6 voters in my family will change our voter registration from Republican to Independent.

I love Ronald Reagan as I would an older family member. It's hard not to think of him as a family memeber in some ways, because he exemplified the older wiser reserved individual. He was also the guy that would grab you by the scruff of your neck and jerk some sense into you when called for. He wasn't a pushover, and he defended himself admirably.
People are different. They lead different lifestyles and develop different character traits. They are exposed to different settings. Trump in many ways is not Ronald Reagan. In other ways he is exactly Ronald Reagan. It is those ways where they are alike that you are going to have to learn to cherish. To deny those ways, is to deny that part of Ronald Reagan too.
Reagan had a vision to help this nation, return it to it's former glory. So does Trump. Compare those vision's to Obama's vision. Both are cleary diametrically opposed to Obama's vision. You need to admit it.
Reagan became larger than life. He was able to beat back the leadership of his own party, own the press, and even win the admiration of those who were supposed to despise him. Reagan won over Tip O'Neil as a friend. Trump has connections on both sides fo the isle. He is also able to buck the leadership of his own party, and own the press. You know this is true. You know he is espousing our principles out there, even if you don't trust him. He is. You know it.
The most dire problem we have facing our nation right now, is illegal immigraton. How does Trump's plan stack up against the one Reagan signed into law?
Both men came to or are coming to the Oval Office with our military in deceline. How does Trump's outline of what he wants to do compare to Reagan's?
Reagan was all about putting U. S. Citizens back to work. How do Trump's stated policies compare to Reagan's.
How does Trump's recognition that taxes are a big problem compare to Reagan's views on the subject?
On the issues of abortion, education, the EPA, global warming, the oil pipeline, and energy in general, and the forces of evil against the West, it's tough to imagine Ronald Reagan opposing Donald Trump's views, any of them.
Trump so valued Reagan's contribution to the nation that he supported George Bush for election after him, to continue to Reagan legacy. He talked up Dan Quayle, praised his speech and guaged him a smart capable man.
Trump attended the 1988 Republican National Convention.
If you don't like Trump, don't vote for him. Go ahead and re-register to an Independent. I'm not sure you shouldn't do that anyway. Every one of us probably should now. Those of us who do value participating in the nomination process in the primaries can't.
All I'll say is that if you do withhold your support from Trump, it will be a shame if he does follow through with his stated Reaganeske views. If he doesn't, you'll have been the sage.
I believe he loves this nation. For now, I trust him. That may change in time.
