GOP Ganging Up to Trounce Trump?
Fox Business ^ | August 19th, 2015 | By Charlie Gasparino, Courtney Crawford

Posted on 08/19/2015 11:27:47 PM PDT by Mariner

Billionaire real estate mogul and presidential candidate Donald Trump continues to dominate the GOP field both in hurling insults at his fellow Republicans and in the polls, but now it appears his rivals have decided that if they’re going down, they’re going down swinging.

The Fox Business Network has learned that at least some of the campaigns are discussing an attack-ads blitz against The Donald in the coming weeks, according to several financial executives who have direct ties to the various campaigns. These people tell Fox Business that the campaigns of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in particular are currently raising money with aims to hit Trump on various issues such as his controversial comments about immigration, as well as his record as a businessman, in these ads.

The campaign of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul may also follow suit, they say. Those likely to stay out of the anti-Trump attacks include Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has a similar position to Trump on immigration and is looking to siphon some of Trump’s support.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, meanwhile, is expected to spend money from his enormous war chest, which includes more than $100 million in so-called Super PAC money. But the Bush spending is expected to focus on his record in politics and underscore his skills as a candidate rather than in attacking rivals, fundraisers tell Fox Business. Super PACS are fundraising vehicles that can raise unlimited amounts of money but can’t work directly with campaigns.

How is getting them all of go home and “quickly” have all of the “good ones” come back legally the same as the status quo?

If anyone else were saying this, they would call that comprehensive immigration reform.

The status quo would leave us with 10’s of millions of illegals.

This will result in 10’s of millions of them being here legally (after going home for a “quick” visit, and a few having to stay there because they are not deemed “good”.

I dont know why it seems most people have suddenly turned off their skepticism when it comes to Trump.

He is playing the same ole game all politicians play to get elected, he is just doing it in a more clever, deceptive and provocative way. I dont mean to pick on Trump, I would be skeptical of any statement someone running for office made that inserted qualifiers or who refused to give details when pressured for ANY reason that might if given alienate some portion of the electorate.

I dont think Trump is trying to “screw America”

I am just desperately trying to point out that Trump is not saying what people think he is saying.

Trump is a master of the media of TV and is just playing the same game nearly all politicians play to get elected, it’s just that he is so much better at it that most people haven’t figured it out yet.

If you are “ok” with the idea that Trump is not as conservative as many here think... then more power to you! My goal is not to change your mind. My goal is to point of to those who support Trump on the far right AND the far left that Trump is NOT saying what both think he is saying.

Basically my point is that Trump is a lot more moderate on just about every issues than is thought to be the case by many on the right and the press in general think.

:-) Your bias is showing. (You live in Texas. How can you think the way you do? Unless having been/ being overrun by illegals isn’t your priority- then, I guess that explains it.)

Trump’s point is they ALL go back. THEN, we can start talking about SOME of them coming back. I don’t think it’s going to be ‘’you & you & you, Out. You over there, can stay’’. This coming back isn’t going to be a fast process. I also imagine this will be after the border has been secured & the flow stopped (not ‘’reduced’’, stopped), too. This guy didn’t get where he is doing things half way or not finishing things he started before moving on to the next thing.

He’s answering the question. For some people, nothing he can say is going to be the ‘’right’’ answer. And that’s true with a lot of people who support the various candidates (not just Cruz supporters).

No, you're looking for problems to have.

Why is it so hard for you people to believe Trump really loves America, and wants to use his rather unique skill set to fix many of the things we all know are wrong?

FReepers don't need you to point out he's not the great white hope of conservatism. We don't need you straining at gnats; we know it already.

I have no doubt that most liberals “love America” I just disagree with their solutions to our problems.

Loving America is not the issue. (maybe with Obama it is, but with just about anyone else it's not)

John McCain and Jeb Bush would love to FIX our immigration system too!, would you want them doing it? and if not, why not? because they didn't insert a catchy boisterous phrase like “they have to go!” before stating he wants comprehensive immigration reform?

What I am trying to point out is that we all much smarter now to the old tricks politicians use to fool us. Trump has figured that out and is using NEW TRICKS on us. The second McCain or Bush or any other RINO tried using any of the old tricks on us, we would see through them instantly!

As I said, if you want a moderate Trump is probably your man. If your a liberal and think Trump is a liberal, or if your a conservative and think Trump is a conservative you will probably be disappointed eventually.

I’ll need to go back & listen to what he said. I don’t recall him using the word ‘’quickly’’ in that context, but maybe you are correct.

Have you even read the guy’s last book, or are you just parsing his last appearance on the curvey couch? Cause we can do that on our own.

Frankly, I believe almost all of Trump’s FR detractors would be embarrassed if they knew his answers to their pseudo-insightful objections in “Time To Get Tough.”

We know why Obama, Jeb, and McCain tell people what they want to hear. Trump already has a job, and plenty of big buildings that wouldn’t be there without him, for good measure! Why the hell would he try for a job that pays 1% of what he currently makes just to do nothing with it?

The guy likes to leave his mark. He’s not running to do a mediocre job of it. And I sincerely doubt his ego would let him beg off of everything he ran on. He’s not going to speak to the nation and give a “you didn’t read the fine print” address. For him, that would be like cheating at solitaire. Why bother?

And I have to disagree that liberals love America. They love the idea of what America could become if only they could run it the way they want.

Neither do I think John McCain, or Jeb Bush would LOVE to fix our immigration problem unless by “fix” you mean codify the status quo. It is manifestly apparent they have another agenda. What that is I can only speculate. But I don’t recall EVER hearing Trump trying to “fix” immigration by pushing the GOPe remedies. So again, why bother if the current powers that be are going to do it that way, anyway?

So in summary, I see no credible reason to doubt Trump is going to his, not inconsiderable, damnedest to provide the solutions he’s promising for a normative understanding of those promises.

A coordinated attack that educated the public about what Trump really believes

So the entrenched big party pro-politicos are going to educate the American people and tell the American people truth are they?

You evaded the bolded question tex.

I am just pointing out what I see.

That's a lie tex. You clearly stated you know what others are hearing and thinking. That's not a rational statement.

My comment/question to you was strictly based on what those running government have done for several decades. It's based on what Americans have been force fed by this corrupt government, which has caused the American decline across the board. Economy, debt, trade, lawless open borders, reckless costly foreign policies which have literally looted the American treasure. None of this is a secret tex. Did you not understand this?

I am not pretending to be psychic mind reader like you just did in #35.

Feel free to answer the question you clearly evaded.

Btw tex, there already have been multiple coordinated attacks at professional levels since Trump announced just 9 short weeks ago. This was even predicted and was extremely accurate. Apparently you've missed that too.

Lust for power is what drives all politicians, Trump is no exception.

What I encourage all people to do is to listen carefully when a politician answers a question for any out’s or qualifiers they insert into their answers.

I read an article just yesterday that had a sample of I think 20 people on why they support Trump. And what I gathered from that was that most of his supporters (on both the left and right) after hearing Trump speek come away thinking Trump agrees with them.

Basically the gist of the answers was:

Liberals believe Trump is a die hard liberal.
Conservatives believe Trump is a die hard conservative.
and the rest just want Trump to “burn it all down”

I didn't see a single moderate interviewed who supported Trump because they thought he was a moderate.

Both Liberals and Conservatives can't be right about Trump, which means someone is being misled.

I am seeking the truth about who it is, why do you Trumps supporters find that so offensive? are you trying to hide Trumps real views from conservatives? and if not, why be angered when someone simply wants to determined who is being misled here, and make no mistake SOMEONE is being misled.

He did NOT say he was going to let them all back in. I would suggest you read the entire six pages of his explanation about what should be done. Jeff Sessions worked on it with him so it is necessarily correctly formatted. Don’t take any one elses word, read it for yourself.

quote “So the entrenched big party pro-politicos are going to educate the American people and tell the American people truth are they?”

I didn't really see that as a question, but the truth is the truth no matter who brings it out.

If Jeb humped a monkey last weekend, is it any less true if Obama reveals that Jeb humped a monkey? The truth is the truth.

If Trump is as conservative as many think he is, then there should be no fear from his conservative supporters that his real views might be reveals by the GOPe or anyone else for that matter.

I believe Trump is using new techniques to evade answering questions he knows he doesn't want to elaborate on until AFTER he has secured the nomination and then can safely “run back to the middle” like all politicians do. He is inserting qualifiers quietly into all his answers which are almost completely overshadowed by the bold non-pc provocative statements he makes like “they have to go!”

He is so skilled at it, it's easy to miss.

Trump said he would let all the good ones back in (but didn’t define what is good is) and then said all the “good ones” could come back “quickly”

I didn't really see that as a question

Do you not see the multiple question marks directed to you in #111?

You just evaded the questions again. Why are you evading the questions tex? Shall I repeat the questions and number them for you? I have no problem doing that.

I just answered the question.

you are not listening.

Yes the big government RINO’s that currently run the GOPe are can reveal the truth about Trump.

As I states the truth is the truth, no matter who states it.

If Trump has nothing to fear from conservatives determining where he really stands on the issues then he should WELCOME the dialog. Because as it stands now, he is FOOLING someone, and it’s either US or the liberals, but we both cant be right about him.

Lust for power is what drives all politicians, Trump is no exception.

Except he's not a politician...

While "lust for power" is a convenient cliché (like "greedy" corporations), it's not the slam dunk confutation its pedestrian proponents like to think it is.

If it were, no one would ever stop at Congressman, let alone leave under their own steam.

Further, as stated earlier, Trump is not a politician, he builds businesses. Men like him acquire power as a byproduct of their successes, not as a goal in itself. Assuming he has a "lust" for power is as doctrinaire as assuming someone sings opera because they're snooty.

I read an article just yesterday that had a sample of I think 20 people on why they support Trump.

But this is FreeRepublic. We are not a "sample" in that this is what we do for fun. Not that we are immune to vanity, but long time FReepers such as myself take great satisfaction in constructing persuasive arguments and refutations. The "football fans" come and go, but rarely will you find a long time FReeper that is unmoved by solid reasoning.

I am seeking the truth about who it is, why do you Trumps supporters find that so offensive?

It's not that we find challenges offensive: it's the bad arguments. It is most frustrating when someone ignores all aspects of the debate, only to ascribe ignorance or naïveté to those they can not persuade.

...make no mistake SOMEONE is being misled.

Leaving aside the question of whether one is being purposely misled, or whether it's self-inflicted, the FIRST thing you need to determine is your own ability to detect such shenanigans. For me, it takes the form of this question: if I were wrong, how could someone prove it to me?

If I don't know what would prove me wrong, I won't recognize it when it's shown to me.

This may not prove completely satisfying in that often questions must remain "open." However, the benefit is that you will know those who profess a solid conclusion are talking out of their hat!

A coordinated attack that educated the public about what Trump really believes would cause Trump to lose the support of either 1 or 2.

The professional politicians belonging to the GOP will tell the truth and educate Americans as to what Trump "really believes"?

Did you not state this tex?

He is seeking to be elected, that by default makes him a politician.

It's not that I think people are ignorant, I just dont understand why all the Trump supporters are so defensive and why Trump and Trump alone is not to be judged by his past stances or called out on any qualifiers he slyly inserts into questions that might drive a wedge between him and the base.

Here, lets try this:

I'll pretend to be Trump, and I'll have a reporter ask me questions and I will answer using the techniques I think Trump is utilizing.

I will declare strongly a very conservative and concise answer like “if we dont have a border, we aren't a nation” and “they have got to go!” with less memorable qualifiers said only once very weakly, like “the good ones can come back quickly” and if asked a follow up question I simply restate one of my non pc concise answers “they have to go!” or I attack you for aksing an unfair question.

See how this works?

Ask me about gun control?

Sure! I strongly believe in the 2nd amendment right to bear arms! I think some common sense restrictions should be placed on that right, but I think an armed society is a polite society!

um... mr.. Trump.. what sort of “common sense restrictions” would you support?

to which I answer 1 of two ways:

HOW DARE YOU! ask me such an unfair question!
or
I support the 2nd amendment right to bear arms!

see how this works?

Mr Trump, What are your views on abortion?

I believe that abortion is terrible!

That's great Mr. Trump but would you support any restrictions on it?

I might support some common senses restrictions on it like if the life of the mother were at stake or something of that nature.

What restrictions besides exceptions to save the mothers life might you support? and would you appoint supreme court justices that might overturn Roe V Wade?

Trump then replies! WHAT AN UNFAIR QUESTION! I can't believe you would ask me such a thing! I already told you Abortion is Terrible!!!

I could go on and on.
