Marco Rubio is not echoing Donald Trump's call to repeal the constitutional provision that automatically grants citizenship to individuals born in the United States.
"I'm open to doing things that prevent people who deliberately come to the U.S. for purposes of taking advantage of the 14th Amendment, but I'm not in favor of repealing it," Rubio, a Florida Republican senator and presidential hopeful, told reporters in Iowa on Tuesday.

Of course. That’s been clear for years.
That makes no sense at all.
You are correct about the common usage, but the U.S. citizen child could "anchor" a legally present non-citizen couple here as well. They usually don't get to stay forever, right?
I don’t know. How long do permanent residents and Cuban refugees usually stay?
I see nothing that needs to be repealed, Illegal Aliens are not “subject to the jurisdiction of” they are CRIMINAL INVADERS and Have no such protections. Just ENFORCE EXISTING LAW. Rubio: Drop Dead and leave the US for a place a little more palatable for you, maybe Venezuela.
If you don’t have to be naturalized, then you are a natural born citizen.
Rubio parents were here LEGALLY. You see the difference?
So simple yet so hard for so many to grasp. Good post.
Wrong.
Birth tourists are here “legally”, too.
So are the H1B visa holders from India whose wives spit out as many kids as possible “legally”.
Yeah, call your Congressman. They can change the Visa process to exclude tourists from dropping anchor babies. But the language of the 14th is pretty clear. If you are born here to parents whose allegiance is to the USA and your parents are not illegal invaders grabbing their crotch and waving the flag of another country you are a natural born citizen.
Rubio’s dad didn’t file for citizenship until 15 years after he arrived in the USA. Where was his allegiance?
To Fidel Castro? He was actually a mole placed here by Che to get his son elected POTUS. In fact Marco is actually Che’s son.
Rubio’s parents were in the US legally. Our main concern is about illegal claiming birth citizenship. All cases cited in this article were about aliens legally in the US.

FR POST - The Great One youtube
The Great One agrees congress can pass a law under section 5 of the 14th amendment.
Rubio is not an Anchor because his parent were legal and he was under the "political jurisdiction" of the United States.
This article is from Esquire in 2008, three years before your article.
Raj was the daughter of a bank manager. She first came to America on a scholarship to study for her doctorate in nuclear physics at Louisiana State University. She brought along her husband, a love match named Amar Jindal, himself the son of a shopkeep from the bania caste, the only one of the nine children in his family to attend school past fifth grade. At the time the couple immigrated, Raj was three months pregnant with their first son, Piyush. Though the university health plan denied coverage for the birth (it was ruled a "preexisting condition"), the one-month paid maternity leave was awarded as promised that was the perk that had tipped the scales for Amar, who'd been hesitant to leave home, having worked his way up through the ranks to the respected position of assistant professor of engineering at Punjab University in Chandigarh, the newly dedicated capital city of their home state.
More from 1996... Bobby Jindal in 1996: Louisiana's 24-year-old 'Whiz Kid' had critics and admirers
Piyush Jindal - he borrowed the name Bobby from "The Brady Bunch" when he was 4 - was born in Baton Rouge, but just barely. His parents had arrived only six months earlier from India so his mother could attend graduate school in nuclear physics at Louisiana State University.
It may be that they got green cards through the father, but they wouldn't have come in the first place if not for the mother's scholarship and paid maternity leave.
