Des Moines, Iowa (CNN)A helicopter landed here just after noon on Saturday, causing a short but violent windstorm. Large trees shivered; small ones bent nearly sideways. Dust swirled up from the parking lot, stinging the eyes of the onlookers. The pilot cut the engines. A man got out of the helicopter. He wore white shoes and white khakis with sharp creases and a red baseball cap that said MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. He strolled across the searing asphalt and stood at the edge of a field, where nearly 100 people waited to find out what he would do or say next.

If your candidate is Cruz, you’re not doing him any favors by posting here the way you have been.
And in the meantime, the actual Cruz is telling people, quietly, “Look at what Donald Trump is talking about. Look at how it is resonating. Think about why these affairs matter.”
Cruz is wise. He is in it for the hand of God, not for himself. Some would-be boosters, not quite so wise.

I agree—Cruz is handling the Trump question and the entire race perfectly.
I’m fine at this point with either Cruz as Trump’s VP, or as the conservative candidate with a chance to become the nominee if Trump falters.
But I’m increasingly doubting that Trump will falter. He’s a quick study at this.
I expected Trump to get people talking about important issues. I expected him to make the race interesting. I expected him to show that the media wants to pick winners and losers.
And I expected him to flame out pretty quickly.
I'm beginning to think that he can avoid the pitfalls and actually ride this wave.
