Graham: Trump going backward on immigration

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) expressed concern Sunday that the Republicans’ leading candidate for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination is going down the wrong road on immigration reform.

Graham said that Donald Trump is embracing self-deportation that calls for all 11 million illegal immigrants to walk back to where they came from and “maybe we’ll let some of them come back.”

“But I hope we don’t go down that road as a party,” Graham told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“So the leading contender Mr. Trump is going backward on immigration and I think he will take us all with him if we don’t watch it,” he said.

This kind of thinking comes from living in an echo chamber instead of being part of the community they were elected to represent.
Most politicians are guilty of this. We need to stop career political office.

“Graham: Trump going backward on immigration”

THANK YOU GRAHAM...finally something I can agree with.

Let’s go backwards to the 1950s, when Ike simply said that those here need to go home, and they did, almost to the person.

We DREAM of that day and Trump seems to be the ONLY PERSON willing to do so, even as it should be a no-brainer for all of them.

First reaction in from the GOPe. Graham is a pro-amnesty acolyte of McCain. Not surprising. The immigration issue will separate the wheat from the chaff. Go Trump.

I’m waiting for any candidate to start talking about strict E-Verify and aggressive prosecution of employers who hire illegals.<

Did you read Trump's position paper?

Nationwide e-verify. This simple measure will protect jobs for unemployed Americans.

Trump’s plan is attrition thru enforcement—a good approach. He is not advocating mass deportation.

He has not read Trump’s immigration policy paper. Or he is pretending he hasn’t.

His plan includes reducing legal immigration. Get a load of this:

Immigration moderation. Before any new green cards are issued to foreign workers abroad, there will be a pause where employers will have to hire from the domestic pool of unemployed immigrant and native workers. This will help reverse women's plummeting workplace participation rate, grow wages, and allow record immigration levels to subside to more moderate historical averages.

It hasn’t been 11 million since Bush said it, probably more than that then.

Good story. The liberals I know and the ones I don’t..... There is a strong anti-illegal immigration sentiment in libs and moderates that was just waiting to be tapped into. Trump knew this for a long time just from his daily encounters with people in business and otherwise.

Trump is very harsh on immigration. I agree with him 100% but would tone it down a bit while still slamming illegal immigration, Mexican drugs flowing across our border, and automatic citizenship for babies dropped by illegal aliens

Lindsey Graham is a punk who should stay in DC where he is most at home. DC is very very gay so Lindsey feels right at home there. The gays and lezzies love working for the Federal Gov’t and as Congressional (House and Senate) staffers. The percentage of gays/lesbians employed by the Feds (especially in the DC region) is way over their number in the population
