Early in the evening of July 4, Micaela Giless mobile phone started sounding alerts, and a series of messages straight out of a horror movie began scrolling down her screen.
Her 19-year-old son told her that his Airbnb host in Madrid had locked him in the fourth-floor apartment where he was supposed to be staying and removed the key. The host was still there, he said, rattling knives around in the kitchen drawer and pressing him to submit to a sexual act. He begged his mother for help.
When she called Airbnb, its employees would not give her the address and would not call the police. Instead, they gave her a number for the Madrid police and told her to ask the police to call the company for the address. But the number led to a recording in Spanish that kept disconnecting her, she said, and when she repeatedly called back her Airbnb contact, the calls went straight to voice mail.
According to her son, Jacob Lopez, he was sexually assaulted that night. Eventually, he persuaded his host to free him. He returned home to Massachusetts and is in trauma therapy.
His host, who was born male but is living as a woman, denied Mr. Lopezs accusations. She denied threatening him and said that the sex act was consensual and that he is transphobic. If she is right, filing a false police report and telling the story publicly would be an unlikely way to bury a regrettable experience.

Don’t wanna know.
This wouldn’t even be considered news in San Francisco.
Its an Internet website where people can list their houses, condos, apartments, or rooms to rent for a temporary stay for traveling tourists. Its cheaper than renting a hotel room. Some (not all, but some) of the people who list their rooms or apartments for rent do so in violation of the rules of their leases.
There are other horror stories such as people renting out their houses on airbnb only to later find their houses trashed and their personal items missing.
As I understand it, they do have a ratings system so that renters and rentees can leave reviews of each other.
What could go wrong? Gosh.
If I could teach one thing, it would be strengthening the fingertips for snake style strike at the eyes and windpipe. The amount of conditioning needed to go through the bone at the back of the eye socket is not great, mostly the focus of delivery. A sharp tap with little force to the windpipe will send the biggest steroid monster puking. Once you’ve conditioned your fingerbones, make your middle fingertip a bug killer (target rich here in S Fl). Do it often enough that a bug gets your attention and focus like a cat. Then a windpipe is as easy to hit as a beachball in comparison.
Just throwin’ it out there. “Drum solos” on a folded towel on a table with your fingertips is a good way to start. A weapon they can’t confiscate ;)
“Talk about health-care”
It's not like motels or hotels are any safer.
I would imagine there is some poor sob locked in a hotel room right now with a trannie and steak knives.
I was telling myself that I was going to have to kill her or she was going to kill me, he said.

“Might as well give up, that door isn’t gonna open.”
“Well where would you like the new door to be?”
I wonder what stories obama could tell about him and his tranny nanny named Turdi?
God I hate the NY Times
He was locked in an apartment with a psychopath. He probably had to text someone secretly so that the “host” wouldn’t discover what he was doing and flip out.
Notice that then the “host” cut off the internet service so that this young guy couldn’t call anyone. What a nightmare!
Mental image is of “Buffalo Bill” from “Silence of the Lambs”.
Is that what you would do? Text someone 2000 miles away for advice or help? Heck, why not call a 1-800 help line in India and save some money?
Sweet innocent Megyn goes to Europe for a vacation, looking forward to a restful and happy stay at the bed and breakfast she found online. Little does Megyn know that the place emphasizes the bed part. The breakfast - not so much.
Sure, they use the same one Craigslist does. Nothing. They are only a site to post your rental and that's about as far as they responsibility goes.
Depends. Pre-chopitoffame or post-chopitoffame?
