Turns out the Mexican government isn't so keen on Donald Trump's assertion that he will make Mexico pay for a wall along America's southern border.
"Of course it's false," a spokesman for Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said of Trump's claim in a Bloomberg interview published Wednesday. "It reflects an enormous ignorance for what Mexico represents, and also the After firestorm over his comments about illegal immigrants, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump travels to the U.S.-Mexico border. CBS News C... Trump, a billionaire businessman who's seeking the Republican presidential nomination, has said repeatedly that the U.S. must build a wall to keep illegal immigrants from crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
But America won't pay for this wall, according to Trump -Mexico will.
"We're gonna get the wall built...and Mexico's gonna pay for the wall," Trump said Tuesday at a news conference. "And they're gonna be happy about it...because the cost of the wall is peanuts compared to the kind of money they're making. Mexico is becoming the new China."
Trump, who holds a big lead in early polls of the Republican primary field, has made immigration one of the chief focuses of his campaign, inciting controversy with his inflammatory remarks on the subject.

“There are ways of making Mexico do our bidding. Its not like they can defend themselves very well, considering half their country is in the U.S.”
Good point. And I note that siince the 1950’s, the US hasn’t expanded any. Maybe what we need is not a wall, but a buffer zone. The northern states of mexico are relatively well off. If we’re going to take on mexico’s population, then why not take the land as well? Hold out the carrot of eventual status as a US territory.
Just jawboning something like that would I suspect result in a sudden attitude adjustment on the part of the mexican government.
Trump would certainly try to cut through all the regs. It would have to be on our side. Water access would be an engineering issue.
Yeah, they’ll pay for it. How about this for a proposal: skip the wall and instead implement a buffer zone. I think the northern states of mexico would be big enough. Turn it into a military exclusion zone. But with the carrot of eventually allowing the area to become a US territory subject to attainment of certain standards. Its a win/win for all sorts of folks. The mexican people, the US, the military-industrial complex.
Manifest destiny, baby. if you’re not growing, you’re dying.
I’m a fan of having every single illegal rounded up and forced to build it.
Here is one that will simply blow your sox off.
When I go to Rocky Point in Mexico from Phoenix, Arizona I often leave around 5:00 am on a weekday to get to the border at Lukeville by 6:30 am via a small road called Highway 8 that goes through Buckeye which you get to from interstate 10.
Well guess what.
American Yellow school buses are waiting in Lukeville to take Mexican kids who live in Sonoyta directly opposite Lukeville right over the border to American schools. You will see the Mexican kids walking over and hop on the buses on the way to Mexican schools.
How is that for the news of the day? It’s been going on for years.I’ve been going to Rocky point for over 15 years.
Does anyone know if E-Verify is the law of the land now and in force and if so, why hasn't this cut down all the jobs that these illegal scumbags have taken?
Not to worry; we can send the EPA with lesbian Administrator Gina McCarthy to oversee the work in the park.
Precisely; that tax should pay for a wall and also increased enforcement to include incarceration for those who knowingly hire illegals.
Tariffs.
A South hater and a Free Traitor, quite a screwed up package you are.
A president Trump should put a border fence surcharge of 10% on all money transfers to Mexico. This will pay for a fence. All the while he should be loudly blaming the thieving government of Mexico for this surcharge. Turn the Mexicans against their Federale gov’t
Yeah, we have the same thing in San Diego and Imperial Counties in California. Some of the most rural school districts in San Diego County wouldn’t survive without the Mexican enrollment.
>>If Obama can do things as he sees fit then so can Trump<<
The Poster made the statement you quoted, not Trump.
Trump criticized Obama saying that you don’t run the Country using EO’s.
I'm perfectly aware of that and I have no idea why you think otherwise.
>>>Yeah, why not! Recently someone said we should toss the Constitution and install Trump as a dictator so he could really get things done<<<
Well, it seems that you are making assumptions based on what you say Trump supporters said, not what Trump actually said.
Do you have a link to the person that said we should “toss the Constitution and install Trump as a Dictator”? I don’t recall seeing that Comment made on FR.
If I misunderstood your intent, my Apologies.
Seal every port of entry from San Ysidro to Matamoros for 10 days or more except for U.S. registered traffic reentering from Mexico. U.S. business will hurt but Mexico will hurt worse. Nixon once sent the Mexicans a message by having Customs do detailed searches of every vehicle crossing the border. Traffic was backed up for as far as the eye could see.
Yes, you’ve misunderstood. I’m making no assumptions. Thank you for the apology and I accept.
Check your Freepmail.
I believe Trump much more than the Mexicans. Only he must insistent they build it with US specifications and supervision. Otherwise it will be perforated and blow down with the first big storm.
Stupid article. Clearly they’re going to say “No” right now. But when they have billions of dollars of US money at stake they’ll change their tune.
