Donald Trump suggested that he would not support ending taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood's non-abortion services in two interviews Tuesday.
"We have to help women," Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity in an interview that aired on Tuesday night. " So we have to look at the positives, also, for Planned Parenthood."
Trump said he opposes federal grants going towards Planned Parenthood's abortion practices, but noted that abortions make up a "small part" of the organization. ...
Trump appeared to support shutting down the government rather than fund Planned Parenthood in an interview last week. "Asked directly by conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt if its worth shitting down the federal government to strip Planned Parenthood's $528 million in government funding, Trump replied, 'I would,'" Politico reported.
Planned Parenthood released a statement Tuesday lauding Trump's comments, urging Republicans to "reconsider their extreme and unpopular positions on defunding preventative care" and "abortion bans." ...

Trump is way off the reservation on this one, and you know it.
While it sounds like he is just echoing Democratic talking points (and this is precisely what the Democrat candidate will say), my guess is, like most other issues, Trump is completely ignorant about Planned Parenthood and is just winging it when it comes to specifics.
Trump would much rather stick to his protectionist and one liner shtick. He is not a conservative and therefore can’t be expected to understand the specifics of issues conservatives care about. He is a protectionist mixed with a streak of nationalism, and complaining about trade deals (much like Bernie Sanders) is where he is most comfortable.
Sigh - read the article. He does not support abortion or support funding it.

He’s almost 70 years old. He should be fully educated by now, or at least know where he stands on abortion. And he does, as his recent statement shows. Send PP the money and believe everything they say.

He said %that when he got home after debate his daughter Ivanka pointed out that if PP was completely defended the women’s vote would be at issue because there were health issues that women needed. That we absolutely should never fund abortions but women should continue to have the other services. Something would need to be worked out. (Did NOT say under the banner of PP. Besides, money is fungible. PP survives on tax dollars. The states are cutting them off. The Feds should too. Every dollar. The GOP wants to redirect the funds to other organizations that SERVE women, a very good idea.
Any money given to PP funds abortion either directly or indirectly.

That’s why I’m not going to worry about it right now. Trump’s job right now is to take on the GOPe, I’ll worry later whether or not he’s POTUS-worthy.
