Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that he is against a flat tax and people as they make more and more money can pay a higher percentage in an interview broadcast on Wednesdays Hannity on the Fox News Channel.

GO CRUZ GO!!!!!!!!
Because, in my opinion, using a phrase like “gaming the system” implies nefarious intent.
It’s what the “evil rich people” do. The “one-percenters”.
You’ve already suggested that Trump isn’t paying what he “truly owes” in taxes. In other words, he is cheating.
Do you have any basis for saying that, or is that just an suspicion based on his wealth?
The loopholes are largely defined as special favors, to enable those who contribute the most to leftist causes or candidates, to skate off tax-free.
The progressive tax rate does originate from Marxists; and is contrary to the vision of the founders, as the Federal income tax itself didn't even begin until the 20th century.
If the federal government were a mere service provider, the idea that shirking taxes is morally wrong might have some weight.
The reality is that the Federal government is an active, rapidly advancing enemy of individual liberty, intent on destroying our civilization, and reducing us to dependence upon it.
And it does that, in part, through the use of funds gained through tax revenue. Of course, even without that revenue, government would borrow, print or steal whatever it needed, but any citizen who keeps what's rightfully his, and thus deprives the Federal leviathan of it, is a hero.
OK.. Trump backs progressive taxation, wants to continue most funding of Planned Parenthood, he supports eminent domain seizures for private interests, has a history of backing single-payer health care, has wobbled on amnesty, and is close friends of the criminally corrupt Clintons.
He is many things.. but let’s be honest here... conservative isn’t one of them.
These same people DEMANDED conservatives vote for Romney. Thus anything can be rationalized. After that exercise into hard liberalism, Donnie will have to campaign on practically mandatory abortion, optional into the 24th year before half these people even begin to question his ‘conservatism’.
The democrat party Reagan left was NOTHING like the party it is now. Further, Reagan made a single switch, vs. Trump, who’s been all over the political map. The Reagan comparison is a false one.
This is correct. Any tax system is going to be scaled. The less money you have the more valuable your money is.
Flat tax is regressive when you consider the value of accumulated money. I.E A dollar from somebody making $50k per year has more value to the individual or family than a dollar from somebody making $500k per year, and while the two can never be equal, the progressive schedules limit the widening gap in that valuation — and despite this, the gap does still widen. That’s the payoff for capitalism. Hard work, smart work, or a combination of both and you will then enjoy the fruits of your labor.
A stable and balanced economy (and therefore government) relies upon a stable and balanced poor to middle class to wealthy ratio.
Not shocking, coming from a Democrat.
I love how he came out, both barrels blazing, but he does seem to be toning things down. I think he is suddenly worried about sounding too hard.
I sometimes find he jumps from one subject to another, right in the middle of a sentence. He starts answering something, then his mind jumps to something else and off he goes. He seems a bit all over the place to me. OTOH, Ted Cruz stays on topic and seems to have no fear.
and yet it’s more Conservative than any ever implemented by our government in the last 100 years.. you are living in fantasy land
You're responding to something I didn't say.
I didn't say anything about how the so-called loopholes came to exist. No question-the tax code has been manipulated by lobbyists and others for better or worse. And don't make the mistake of thinking that it is only leftists that do it.
But given that the tax code is what it is, my point is that it is not wrong to take advantage of what is there.
For example, there is the mortgage interest deduction, put in place and kept there by lobbyists.
Would it be better to scrap that deduction in exchange for an overall lower tax rate? Quite possibly.
But when that was available to me, I damn well took advantage of it. Was that wrong?
The tax code desperately needs to be scrapped and replaced. I am absolutely opposed to "progressive taxation" and I think Trump is wrong on this point.
But I also know that fundamental tax reform will never happen, despite what Trump may say, or any other candidate for that matter.
It's not going to happen.
yeah the New Deal Reagan backed was as close to socialism as this country has ever been.
Well if Ted Cruz criticizes Trumps plan I will. Speaking of that who else has disclosed their plan and what is it?
None of the candidates are going to "move against" fiat money. That is a Ron Paul/Zero Hedge/Info Wars thing.
That isn't only not going to happen here, it isn't going to happen anywhere.
We're not going back to the gold standard. Period.
I don't believe Trump is an actual conservative and I don't care for a candidate like "the Donald" who is long on bluster but short on specifics and knowledge of the issues. I also am not keen on a populist protectionist, which Trump is, which would make the unions very happy. Saying that, it isn't a giant shock that he is for a progressive/graduated income tax system. If his plan is to simplify it and reduce taxes for all that is still far better than liberal tax schemes.
Not a Trump supporter at all, but also not going to jump on or exaggerate things he says and try to make them appear to be deal breakers for the people that do like him or are considering him.
