Target is bringing Americans one step closer to a gender-neutral society.
The department store chain announced what it called something exciting Friday. After some customers complained about certain toys being designated as appropriate for girls, it is doing away with signs denoting gender classifications.
Over the past year, guests have raised important questions about a handful of signs in our stores that offer product suggestions based on gender, according to Targets online publication, A Bullseye View.
Toys no longer will be labeled according to sex and displayed on either pink or blue shelving. Gender-neutral signage also will appear in the childrens bedding section. The only place gender labels will remain is in the childrens clothing department.
The gender-labeling brouhaha began last June when Target customer and Ohio mother Abi Bechtel snapped a photo of Target signage indicating Building Sets and Girls Building Sets and tweeted it to the chain along with a stern message.

It’d tick me off highly if this were, say, the clothing aisles.....but insofar as the toy department, this is pretty much a tempest in a teapot.
Immediately upon hearing this news, I abandoned Target.
Two years...and I don't miss them one. Single. Bit.
And God gave them over to depravity...
Remove all signage from the rest rooms as well.
Remove all toilets and urinals, install a pit. Gender neutral of course....
Target, like Short People, has no reason to live.
I don’t shop at Target...and I never will. Another case of political correctness gone wild!
I bought a coffee maker last Saturday. It’s the last time they get my money.
Anecdotal evidence but I was shocked at the drop in foot traffic during a recent visit.
I wonder how J.C. Pennys is doing these days.
Yep, lots of boys are going to hang out in the Barbie aisle.
Target is by a 15 miles the closest department store to me. It’s about a 4 minute walk. We almost never darken their doors.
Play the ‘P.C. Crap’ and your going to lose...’another one bit the dust’....
Wasn’t there another big stink with Macys a few months ago for the same reason, resulting in thousands of customers cutting up their credit cards and refusing to shop there?
Well the just released their second quarter report and it was devastating. Way, way below expectations.
When did “customers” become “guests”? I have never charged my “guests” for anything. Has anyone here charged a “guest”
for something. They are “guests” for crying out loud. We are really and truly in the dumper.
So, to satisfy the lonely, angry lives of a couple of overly sensitive liberals who whined, they’re going to p!ss off a huge segment of their shoppers.
Good business decision, Target.
Clothing not far behind. The slippery slope.
Did they notice what happened to JC Penny’s when they pulled this stunt. Marxists are not really good at capitalism.
Pray America is waking
LOL!
Exatly!
What a dumb decision.
How many millions will Target lose playing the P.C. card?
