The Supreme Courts recent 54 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges legalizing same-sex marriage across the United States has already spawned speculation about what will be next in expanding marital rights. As the Supreme Court noted, [t]he history of marriage is one of both continuity and change. That institution
has evolved over time. Interracial marriage, equality between husband and wife, and same-sex marriage were all excluded for long periods of time under our Constitution but now have been sanctioned and protected by the courts. While these changes have come slowly, and courts are unlikely to take the next step in expanding marital rights for some time, the courts are probably not finished expanding the legal definition of marital rights.

Can someone point me to ANYWHERE in the Constitution that it says anything at all about marriage?
I cannot find it.
Depends on how well heeled you are. Wouldn't be responsible if you can't afford support for the inevitable brood of ukeles, know what I mean? That's a serious question you have to axe yourself before making that leap. Sure, you love em on a Saturday night gig but come Monday morning...
Who gets the house?
The robots are probably programmed to permanently close their legs upon saying the words “I do.”
Yours Truly, 2095 - ELO
I sent a message to another time,
But as the days unwind, this I just can’t believe,
I send a note across another plane,
Maybe it’s all a game, but this I just can’t conceive
I drive the very latest Hover car,
I don’t know where you are
But I miss you so much till then,
I met someone who looks a lot like you,
She does the things you do,but she is an IBM
She’s only programmed to be very nice,
But she’s as cold as ice, whenever I get too near,
She tells me that she likes me very much,
But when I try to touch, she makes it all too clear.
She is the latest in technology,
Almost mythology, but she has a heart of stone,
She has an IQ of 1,001,
She has a jump suit on,and she’s also a telephone.
Chorus
Is that what you want - is it what you really want.
I realize that it must seem to strange,
That time haz rearranged, but time haz the final word
She knows I think of you,she reads my mind,
She tries to be unkind, she knows nothing of your world
Although her memory banks overflow
No one would ever know, all she says is that what you want
Maybe one day I’ll feel her cold embrace,
And kiss her interface, until then I’ll leave her alone.
No fault divorce allowed all this nonsense to even be on the table.
Because homosexuals and the types of people who become polygamist are promiscuous, and they move on from their sexual partners.
When infidelity or selfish squandering of assets or domestic violence or crime had a lasting financial penalty these groups wanted no part of marriage.
A lot of us pointed out that this was where no fault divorce would lead. We explained why.
People refused to listen. Even in the church. Now they are pretending this isn't a factor.
” Next...Polygamy”
What the libs can’t see is that their leaders are pushing these perversions solely for the purpose of rotting the resistance of the moral conservatives and not for any lofty sense of fairness. Once control of power is achieved, intolerance will clamp down like a vice, forcing all to be silent workers, humans in name only. Hitler’s first official act as Chancellor was to ban all the unions that had just made it possible for him to be elected. Then, he went after the weak ones, gays, retarded, gypsies..
Only if the robot support me in the manner to which I would like to become accustomed, never ever argue with me, and do all the housework.
And the best part is, mine will all vote Republican. The question is, how do we keep the Democrats from cashing in? I think it's essential that we establish Asimov's three laws of robotics at the outset. The first law is plainly pro-life, and Democrats would never marry such an entity....
Matter of fact, once the Dems think that through, they'll probably try to suppress robotics entirely, so we need to move fast.
At the marriage counselor’s office:”She’s just so cold and mechanical all the time...”
Love at first optical interface.
prior to no fault, the could would just lie about the each other.
How about divorce should not be public to prevent such reputation attacking tactics. ALL divorce records are sealed.
Explain to me how the robot spouse can inherit goods on the death of the human.
How the robot can have rights and responsibilities.
Can’t.
This fascination with robots can only exist among people who don’t see any difference between an electro-mechanical machine and human life.
Acoustic or electric? Not that there's anything wrong with electric!
After my Dad passed on, my mother had a big was of insurance money and decided she would go to college and get a degree. She would spent long nights in a computer science lab and *her* mother (who came to live with us) became irritated with how much time Mom spent in computer lab.
She told my Mom, “Sometimes I think you’re married to that computer.”
I retorted, “Well if she ever gets divorced, I hope she get to keep half its memory.”
A lot of stuff that used to be he said / she said is now settled by the video footage. I am okay with sealing court records. I am not okay in any way with gag orders. I am also okay with denying employment based on unavailable records. It’s appropriate if secrecy has a cost.
What hasn’t changed is that infidelity is a betrayal and children need two parents.
Homosexuals wouldn’t touch marriage with a twenty foot pole back when getting caught in bed with someone else was going to cost them half their assets.
Yes, if the man is attracted to the exhaust pipe.
A spouse with an off switch? That’s a winner.
Now they are just playing with us.
If you can “own” the robot without the obligations (”robot rights”) of marriage, why bother?
