Fox News’ Megyn Kelly opened up for the first time this morning about all the criticism she and Fox have gotten about last week’s Republican debate, talking with MediaBuzz host Howard Kurtz.
And, basically, she took the high road, not necessarily singling out Trump but instead defending her tough questions and saying, “If you can’t get past me, how are you gonna handle Vladimir Putin.”
She explained that the goal was, for every candidate, to “drill down to their most vulnerable areas and then give them a chance to explain them” because these same things will most definitely resurface in the general election.
Kelly anticipated a few boos (which they got), but said of all the criticism, “It’s okay, I’m a big girl. I can take it.” Furthermore, she made it clear she didn’t want her male co-moderators being her white knights in case she came under attack.
As for supposed “gotcha” questions, Kelly said, “I don’t think that my history as a journalist supports bias on my part towards either party… When I'm ticking off both sides, I’m in my sweet spot.”

I haven't watched FOX since election eve 2012. I've argued for years that FOX is not a conservative alternate to the liberal media. FOX is also liberal, just less so than other networks. No one needs to watch tv news in order to stay informed. In fact, I believe one is better informed if they avoid it altogether.
Ditto. But I doubt if Laura would agree to follow Fox's marching orders. So she probably wouldn't last long.

Acting as though he didn’t he past her. He put her in her place. I would expect he would do the same to Putin. She is too dumb to realize it.
As if Putin and the Politburo would pout and whine about a sharp retort on national news.
To me the debate format looked as if it was intended to showcase the three moderators who were the stars of the show.
They allowed the candidates to appear in supporting roles.
I expected more from FOX.
We used to have Bimbo Eruptions in the Clinton years. Now we are down to Bimbo Flatulence in these more jaded times.
My blood has been boiling since listening to Mark Levin’s commentary about the Media Matters-like technique for Megyn’s dishonest question...all out of context from hours and hours of television.

Like Levin, I am an unlikely Trump voter, but want to express that the puppet masters need to be dismantled ASAP.

Great point! I thought I was the only one that blushed when Fox Women spread their legs on camera wearing mini-mini skirts. CNN Anchor Lynne Russell seemed so much more dignified that the Faux News Girls (except Elizabeth Hasselbeck and a couple others)

I figured the only way Trump would know if Megyn was oozing blood from her private parts was if she was shooting beavers from under the moderator table.

I thought he handled the criticism just fine. It was a worthless, mean question more suited to a day at The View, and he told her so: read the response. He said things like that are not important.
He’s right.
Kelly asked a fabricated question...a question that had no factual foundation. She’s a lawyer and she knows better, but her aim was to bash Trump.
And Trump wasn’t bruised and battered as you said. He didn’t take any of Kelly’s crap and shut her right up.
Seriously? These are NOT DEBATES! They are glorified press conferences of a tabloid nature.
FOX News is a disgrace.
