Tough Questions to Trump Prompt Fox Fans to Call for Ban on Megyn Kelly

GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump and his supporters are crying foul over what they consider to be tough treatment by Fox News and in particular Megyn Kelly at Thursday night's debate. They are calling for a ban on Kelly at future GOP showdowns.

For anyone who watched even the first few minutes of the first 2016 Republican presidential candidate debate Thursday night, it was clear that Fox News was out to sandbag Trump. Taking to social media after the debate, it was clear that "The Donald" was far from pleased with the conservative news network.

When the highly anticipated debate of the crowded field of Republican presidential hopefuls began, the first question, asked by the team of Fox News personalities who acted as the evening's moderators, was clearly aimed at one of the ten contenders on stage.

"Is there anyone on stage, and can I see hands, who is unwilling tonight to pledge your support to the eventual nominee of the Republican Party and pledge to not run an independent campaign against that person," asked Fox News' Bret Baier.

The lone hand that went up was that of frontrunner Donald Trump, who is enjoying a double-digit lead in the polls. Trump's move prompted both cheers and jeers from the audience in Cleveland and gave his challengers their first opportunity to jump on the billionaire former TV reality show star.

"Maybe he runs as an independent," said Sen. Rand Paul, who is trailing Trump by 20 points. "He's already hedging his bets."

"That question -- statement was absolutely aimed at me," Trump said during a phone interview on "Fox and Friends" Friday morning, adding "I didn't think it was appropriate, but that's OK."

The second obvious slam to Trump came from Fox's Megyn Kelly whose question was neither about policy nor politics, but about the thrice married businessman's history of calling women he doesn't like "fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals." Kelly further noted an instance on Trump's reality show "The Apprentice" where he alluded to seeing a female contestant on her knees.

re: “the promise”. There’s a funny irony here. All of the others in the Varsity debate promised they wouldn’t got third party (idiots!...they proved they are RNC lapdogs). Will it follow that if Trump goes third party, one of those from the JV debate, who weren’t asked to take that pledge, would be his running mate?

Agreed that all tough questions should be outlawed.

The remark about women just feeds into the Hillary women agenda and gives her fodder to turn a debate into a silly gossip fest.

Those questions weren’t “tough”. They were juvenile, snarky attacks from a smarmy, skanky, intellectually deficient attack-b**ch working for a tabloid-level infotainment lobbying arm of the CoC, masquerading as a “news channel”. “Tough questions” are cleverly crafted questions designed to elicit thoughtful responses that reveal more about a person than we already know. These questions were only “tough” in the sense that teen-age girls often create a “tough” environment for those around them, as they engage in petty, mindless, gossip.

Fox News is finished, at least for me. They are a joke, a disgrace, and a disaster. Anyone who even considers turning that channel on is part of the problem, not the solution.

Me thinks its pictures like this that make it pretty obvious that Megan Kelly thinks she’s supposed to be the star of anything she takes part in now.

Very smart and beautiful woman, but her ever increasing vanity is not an attractive trait.

It appears that the email address “MegynKelly@foxnews.com” is either shut down or full. Mine was kicked back and I double-checked the address a couple times.

If trump can’t answer questions from FOX how would he handle the MSM. You had better hope Trump can man up and get some meaningful answers ready.

The moderators did a big favor for the voters, by outing the whiny pussies.

>> They would never have asked that question if he wasn't there <<

Yes, but he WAS there. And inquiring minds (mine included) wanted to know. So I think the questions was legitimate -- even though I probably would not have asked it in the lead-off position.

Trump should have been the first to the moderators desk to shake each of their hand, telling each how much fun he had.

Hug it out w/ Megyn.

"I didn’t like his whining like a little b**** afterward, but they weren’t tough."

When you see the rest of FR also taking issue with MK, are they "little b*****s", too?

Likewise the rest of the country?

The questions had nothing to do with whether he’d be a good president. No questions about lack of military experience, or how he’d work with a Congress so beholden to special interests, or his dearth of foreign policy experience, etc.

Someone on this forum had an excellent analogy:

“So people say you suck. Do you suck?”

He can say things about people, all kinds of people he has dealt with, and it would ruin them, and they know that, that is why he is such a danger to these people....

And he needs to remember that when you say things that you will get called on them, if you are a Republican. They were no harder on him than the MSM was on Reagan and both Bush's. How does he expect to be able to govern if he is constantly being called on the carpet for bombastic comments.

I've never liked Megan Kelly. She just seems like a career-climber, not a serious journalist/reporter. Like O'Reilly, her show is not about the issues, but, instead, is all about her.

She tried to slap Trump around, but he ended up slapping her around. In the wrap-up after the debate, she was all pissy about Trump. Man, she thinks she is royalty.

Hard questions are fine...and they should be hard.

These were attack questions meant to demean, undermine and derail Trump.

Very unprofessional on the moderator’s parts

>> his support goes through the roof <<

Maybe up, but not thru the roof by any means.

Moreover, I can guarantee that he lost some support. My wife was a big Trump supporter before the debate. Now she can’t stand the guy, not only for his specific words but also for the way he looked “grouchy and mean” last nite.

Unprofessional. A Candy Crowley moment. The moderators think that it is all about them. It is easy for them to attack the subject because they have control of the mike and the format. One minute answers do not give a candidate the opportunity to defend his views or himself.

The MSM and the GOPe want to select our candidate. That is how we got McCain and Romney. We were told that these were the two strongest candidates the GOP could put up against Obama. Now we are told that Bush, Rubio, Walker, or Fiorina are the best candidates to beat Hillary. Trump and Cruz are the worst.
