GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump and his supporters are crying foul over what they consider to be tough treatment by Fox News and in particular Megyn Kelly at Thursday night's debate. They are calling for a ban on Kelly at future GOP showdowns.
For anyone who watched even the first few minutes of the first 2016 Republican presidential candidate debate Thursday night, it was clear that Fox News was out to sandbag Trump. Taking to social media after the debate, it was clear that "The Donald" was far from pleased with the conservative news network.
When the highly anticipated debate of the crowded field of Republican presidential hopefuls began, the first question, asked by the team of Fox News personalities who acted as the evening's moderators, was clearly aimed at one of the ten contenders on stage.
"Is there anyone on stage, and can I see hands, who is unwilling tonight to pledge your support to the eventual nominee of the Republican Party and pledge to not run an independent campaign against that person," asked Fox News' Bret Baier.
The lone hand that went up was that of frontrunner Donald Trump, who is enjoying a double-digit lead in the polls. Trump's move prompted both cheers and jeers from the audience in Cleveland and gave his challengers their first opportunity to jump on the billionaire former TV reality show star.
"Maybe he runs as an independent," said Sen. Rand Paul, who is trailing Trump by 20 points. "He's already hedging his bets."
"That question -- statement was absolutely aimed at me," Trump said during a phone interview on "Fox and Friends" Friday morning, adding "I didn't think it was appropriate, but that's OK."
The second obvious slam to Trump came from Fox's Megyn Kelly whose question was neither about policy nor politics, but about the thrice married businessman's history of calling women he doesn't like "fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals." Kelly further noted an instance on Trump's reality show "The Apprentice" where he alluded to seeing a female contestant on her knees.
Did you see Bush leave the stage and come down and shake hands with the trio ? No others did. Just saying

After reading the remarks, I think a lot of folks here have very thin skins. In that, they resemble Donald Trump.
Now, I as much as anyone here am happy he is in the debate and bringing up issues that others are tiptoeing around - like our open border with Mexico. Without ‘the Donald’, we would not get straight answers from them. He is to be commended for that.
But, he was not treated unfairly. Does Mr. Trump actually think that his past remarks about various women would not be fair game if he goes up against Hillary Clinton? Surely Freepers ought to know that is true. So, IMHO, Megyn Kelly’s forceful questions on the subject were perfectly legitimate. I did have to laugh when his response was ‘only about Rosie O’Donnell.’ Now, that was funny.
I don’t think Donald Trump is a misogynist. But, he has a way of talking that is clearly bombastic intended to offend the target of his remarks. In a less PC world, folks would smile and laugh it off - as I do mostly. He doesn’t offend me beyond what I can tolerate, but then since I am a conservative and a Catholic, I am constantly exposed to things that may offend me, and it takes a lot to get my ire up.
We will all need to grow thicker skins. Hold on to you hats and your sanity, folks, we have 15 months ahead of us to choose a candidate. In the end, our goal is to get control of the Executive branch of the Federal government so we can turn around the decay that Obama and the Democrats are infecting our government with.
The questions had nothing to do with whether he’d be a good president. No questions about lack of military experience, or how he’d work with a Congress so beholden to special interests, or his dearth of foreign policy experience, etc.

You make a good point IMO. There were many substantive and forward looking questions that should have been asked but were not. It will be interesting to see what Bill O’Reilly says tonight about the “debates”. Will he critique the pathetic and snarky performance his own colleagues or will he support the home team?

The whole debate team including the staff (i.e. Chris Stirewalt, etc.) should be ashamed of themselves.
This debate had too many ugly moments. It was designed to provoke when it should have been designed to enlighten. I can’t recall any Democrat debates being this bad.
That would be sad if she was fired.

If Trump is whining about a beat down from Megyn Kelly how is he going to stand up to someone like Putin?
That question was never asked.
She is being adored by liberal media this morning. But they aren’t her audience. Her Facebook page is 99% against her.

They aren’t her audience just yet, but they may well be when she signs on with another network. She’ll jump ship in a New York minute for a more lucrative contract. Fox News is just the employer of convenience at the moment.
I would have much preferred Greta over Megan!!!! Greta would have truly been FAIR!!!! Trump and Greta get along Greta has interviewed Trump more than any of her co-workers!!!!! I was extremely disappointed in Trumps performance but the questions were WAY OUT OF BOUNDS!!!!!

Yes, people will say what they will about Greta but in the end she at least is somewhat fair.
The campaign for Senator Cruz texts me with updates/New shorts on my phone. Prior to the debate last night I watched an interview with Megan and Ted Cruz. She was an absolute witch.

You may not like the way voters react, and I may not like it. But it’s the hard, cold reality. In my opinion, “grouchy” is never going to win.
So I think the GOP needs to nominate somebody who looks “nice” and who always acts the gentleman — like Reagan — but who has a deep understanding of the issues and doesn’t bend under pressure. Trump just ain’t that guy.
(Walker may be, Perry may be, Fiorina may be, even Cruz if he ever learns to smile.)

Answer, of course he will.
Your wife needs to remember what Trump is up against....people who want trillions of our money spent the way THEY want it spent. This is a BIG deal to finally have someone who can tell them to go to hell and try to get this country back to where it ought to be.
Also, The Donald is not a professional debater...he has spent his life in some of the roughest trenches there are in business and he has prevailed. I thought Ben Carson did quite well but the world of a neurosurgeon is a far cry from being a NY real estate developer. I read an interview of his long time assistant, now passed away, and she said there are 2 Donalds - one is the brash attention getter and the other is an extremely nice, caring and giving man.
I have one more comment about Trump’s bankruptcy. Who has bankrupted more businesses - Trump or Obama?
Does your wife like what she knows of Patton? I feel we need a Patton now and I don’t care if he is a sometimes politically incorrect guy - there is too much at stake.
