Carly Fiorina was the clear winner of the early Republican presidential debate–at least according to social media.

The former Hewlett Packard CEO joined six other contenders who failed to qualify for the evening’s main event, which is restricted to the top ten candidates in recent polls. However, her performance in the undercard event generated a great deal of online enthusiasm.

I saw Jindal being interviewed by Chris Wallace a month or so ago. I was also impressed at Jindal’s ability to spin his way out of questions. They don’t call him the “artful dodger” here in Louisiana for nothing.

I’ve DVRd it, but I haven’t watched it yet. Having gone through these things before, the first word and the last work out of anybody’s mouth is that their candidate won.

I doubt it’s so cut and dried.

HP’s “quality and service nosedived” during Carly’s tenor as CEO was not because of her leadership. It was because of the practical consequences of what happened to the entire high tech industry during the Dot Com fiasco. If you wanted to survive, you had to cut costs. That meant you had to make sacrifices even if it meant reducing the staff levels for product QC and product service departments. What do you think the term, “cutting to the bone” means? Eating a nice steak?

Carly Fiorina did not address the issue of Islam/shariah to any extent in this debate.

In a speech right after 9/11, Fiorina said

“the Islamic Ottoman civilization was the greatest in the world”.

Cultural genocide on the scale perpetrated by Islam over 14 centuries remains unmatched, and uninhibited by the moral equivalence suggesting all cultures evolved through similar blood letting . Anyone who dares to characterize Islam as a great culture in history - during any historic period - may as well dismiss the modern day genocides of ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh.

In all fairness, Fiorina did perform well today.

However, unless she convincingly walks back her 'educated' opinion on Islam (she majored in medieval history at Stanford), there is nothing that can justify pulling the lever for her in 2016. Unfortunately I don't believe she is up to that task.

Carly was the hands down winner. She was the only one who even understood that we are virtually at war with Russia and China, not only in trade, but in cyberwarfare. Jindal had no answer for why his popularity in LA was so low.

Fiorina repeatedly was concise, showed that she had a bigger perspective than anyone. Perry was really good on the border.

Carly won on TV as well. Best engagement and presentation overall, followed closely by Jindal. Both should be varsity in my opinion.

I used to work for Compaq, I had a lot of friends at hp. She was not popular with them. As a candidate, she has done very well in interviews.

Actually, I agree on that, and I think she knocked her questions out of the park otherwise.

When you have to make hard decisions to keep the organization afloat, you’re not popular.

That said, the CEO of Intel has stated she saved HP during the dot com bust and positioned HP for long-term success.

So good outcomes can be attributed to her leadership but not bad ones? Quite convenient.
