Melissa Mejia, 18, was stunned and embarrassed when officials at William Cullen Bryant HS in Long Island City, Queens, told her she had met all the requirements to receive a diploma in June. She knew she hadnt. Teachers say Melissa is just one of a number of students magically given credits for classes they failed in an effort by administrators to raise Bryants graduation rate. She told her story to The Posts Susan Edelman.

Go to college, become a surgeon. They’ll give you that with just a little bit of effort.
Perhaps there is. Schools just want to rubber-stamp kids and get them out of there.
When I was editorial director of a publishing company, I was looking for a junior copy editor. Got a hundred resumes. Interviewed a fellow who had just graduated from Journalism School at our state uni. Nice young fellow, but he only got a sore of 59% on our test. Didn't they grade you on spelling and grammar? Not really, he replied. "We were graded on political correctness." If he had been my son I would have sued the school for my tuition money back plus damages.
I dropped out in the ‘70’s (actually asked to leave). “The Mod Squad” was still on so I guess it was modern times.
We used to call this FRAUD!!!
Wilfully and knowingly falsifying “Official Government Records” for profit or gain!
That's sorta' funny.
hysterical, actually. But I’m an old broad now without glasses on so you gotta forgive my lapse.

My guess is that this isn't the last handout.
That explains what happened to a woman in the U.K. who went into surgery for a hysterectomy. She advised the surgical staff beforehand that she had a denture in the rear of her mouth that might need to be removed. When she awoke after the surgery, she found that her front teeth had been removed (her real teeth!). Just because someone says they're a surgeon it doesn't mean they were the brightest student in school!
Show a little more cleavage and the NY Teachers would give you a college diploma.

Our incompetent middle school principal tried to fire a teacher for failing students. Total joke. Told the teacher,”we don’t fail students in middle school”.
I have one better. A college graduate history major who was teaching history was asked the years of the American Civil War. He said, “1897?” This is a true answer.
And that, PCPOET& is what is called projection. An A for you.
That “social promotion” nonsense has gone on for decades, and leads to a lot of the discontent among unassimilated minorities; they believe they actually received an education, and are upset that they have nothing to offer an employer - so it must be racism.
When I was in college it was sad how many “preferred minorities” dropped out early on; they realized how far behind the real students they were, and were quickly demoralized. Even “African Studies” majors had to take a minimal amount of “general education requirements”, and that is where they lost all interest. I could imagine the bitterness this breeds...
