Donald Trump: ‘I’m not a debater’

Four days before the first debate of the 2016 presidential election cycle, Republican front-runner Donald Trump says viewers shouldn’t expect to see fireworks from his side of the stage.

“I’m not a debater,” Trump said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday. “These politicians — I always say, they’re all talk, no action. They debate all the time. They go out and they debate every night. I don’t debate.”

“Maybe my whole life is a debate, in a way,” Trump continued. “But the fact is I’m not a debater and they are. But with that being said, I look forward to it. We’ll see what happens. Who knows?”

The real estate mogul says he won’t be in attack mode — a shift from what we’re used to seeing from Trump on the campaign trail.

“I don’t think I’m going to be throwing punches,” he said. “I’m not looking to attack them. … Every attack I made was a counterpunch. I mean, they attacked me first and I hit them back and maybe harder than they hit me. But the fact is that I’ve been attacked pretty viciously by some of these guys. And I have a lot of respect for numerous people on the stage. I will tell you, I have great respect for some of the people on the stage. But I have been attacked and I counterpunch. I didn’t start the attacks.”

Thursday’s primetime GOP debate, televised on Fox, will feature the top 10 Republican candidates as calculated by an average of the last five major national polls, according to the network’s rules. And a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday shows Trump is surging.

There's attack, and then there's attack. And he's not just distancing himself from her in a calculated political way, he's landing multiple body blows that are increasing Democrat doubt about her and drawing attention to her criminal activities while she tries to let it all fade away through non-acknowledgement.

He even pulled Hillary's top associate husband out of the mud then brutally slammed him back into the muck where he should remain for eternity.

He is not a “politician” but I still think he can do it.

I’m not a debater

That, in and of itself....is debatable.

Please clarify.

Who would be the Republican Nominee that Trump would draw Votes from if he went Third Party, Jeb?

I support Cruz, but at 4% he had better break out of the pack or the Jebster will be crowned The King of the GOP.

He is the closest one trailing Trump as of now.

We all know Jeb couldn’t win a Snowball fight against Bernie Sanders, even if given the high ground, with or without a Third Party anybody.

A caveat, we all knows things turn on a dime in Politics, so all this Trump Butt Hurt may just be an exercise in futility anyway. Que Sara Sara, whatever will be will be.

There’s a third way to win the debate - go after the questioner.

Literally, stop the debate and ask the person asking the question how they came up with something that stupid. Then he should admonish his fellows on the stage that if they are dumb enough to fall for the premise of the question then they shouldn’t be president.

Then he could suggest other questions that might be asked - legitimate ones like how H1-Bs in an economy with 100 million people out of work makes sense politically.

Trump wins again.

The Republican Party IS divided. In fact it’s divided in much the same way it was in 1992.

That’s the problem, not the candidates.

He kinda did that on the Sunday morning shows

"They're cutting off heads and you're asking about water boarding? I like water boarding, I think it works."

Priceless, for that response alone Trump should be elected.

He will run third party, and sadly, win the election for Hillary.

But then you may be the deciding vote...Your vote might give Trump the win...

If he wins the GOP nomination, he beats Hillary.

Trump is the only candidate who can beat Bush and Hillary. Begs the question, why would the GOP not nominate the ONLY person who could beat Hillary?

No, my good FRiend. If Mister Trump were to win the GOP nomination, he is now in a new race. The last two to win the nom lost.

The last two? Were not talking about the last two or Clinton. Were talking about Trump here.

Don't be deceived. Trump is a poseur, I suspect most strongly.

What then??? We just vote for Bush???

That's not the action of an ally. Plus, he's going beyond being just a Pubbie vote splitter - he's leading the whole damn Republican pack!

It's more like Bush may split the Trump vote...

Btw, I've had the unfortunate experience to have had contact with more con-men, frauds, bamboozlers, impostures, deceivers, good and bad liars than you could imagine. Ya see the tag line friend?

From my perspective/experience if anyone is being deceived, the odds really good, it’s you.

I believe that’s very highly probable, Talisker. Unless something dramatic changes (by that, I mean something HE does in the future), Donald Trump has my vote.

[A lot of one-line zingers and nothing else.]

In all fairness, this strategy worked for both Obama and Bill Clinton.

That’s exactly it. He’s using easily recognizable tag lines and quotes over and over so people establish the phrase with his candidacy. He’s all about brand.
