But Oberweis waited until AFTER getting the nomination for a major statewide office to cave on immigration and flip-flop on amnesty (after presenting himself as a no-compromise, deport 'em all, tough talking badass hardliner during the primary)
Trump, on the other hand, is trying to have it both ways DURING the primary. Shades of the Newt Gingrich crowd in 2012: they pulled an Oberweis with their preachy attitude about voting ("we must ALL vote for the highest polling conservative, or the vote will be split and a RINO will win!). The difference was that the Oberweis people waited an election cycle to flip-flip on the "MUST vote for highest polling conservative" talking point. Gingrich fans flip-flopped in the SAME election cycle. Once Newt ended in a distant third or fourth place, they quickly abandoned their talking point.
Newt is a good comparison in terms of inexplicable freeper love for someone undeserving of it. The more I think about Newt, the less I like him.
All the love for Trump is more egregious though, Newt at least had a history as a Republican and more importantly, we have some GOOD candidates this time like Walker and Cruz. Newt supporters had the excuse of weak competition.
Trump is the master entertainer and king of the con-men.
He is good at it, he is fun and funny.
After this is over Trump wants to go back on TV, this compassionate stuff should be expected.
I don't dislike him, its those who jump from candidate to candidate as our our only (till the next one) ‘pure’ candidate attacking all others who I question, their sanity.
‘Trump is the only real conservative who we can trust because he is super rich and needs no $$$ from the bad guys. Only he can afford to be the next Reagan. Anyone critical of him is working for GOPe‘
