Former president Jimmy Carter said Tuesday on the nationally syndicated radio show the Thom Hartmann Program that the United States is now an “oligarchy” in which “unlimited political bribery” has created “a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors.”
Both Democrats and Republicans, Carter said, “look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves.”
Carter was responding to a question from Hartmann about recent Supreme Court decisions on campaign financing like Citizens United. …

His wrongness so overwhelms the incredibly few right things he says. I can’t remember the last thing he said that was right, apart from this narrow couple sentences in the first paragraph.

The conclusion may be right but he came to it for all the wrong reasons. CFR was nothing more than the death penalty for the First Amendment.
In fact, a major reason for his animosity toward the Shah of Iran was because the Shah flatly refused to pay bribes on command rather than in return for specific favors.
Don't get me wrong, the Shah was a dictatorial turd that thought of the Iranian people like his own herd of sheep to do with as he pleased. That was all fine with the US up until the Shah told Carter to stuff it when it came time to pay into the DNC and a few other things he hadn't been asked to do in the past.

I never thought I’d agree with Carter on anything. However people like George Soros and the various billionaires who are getting establishment Republicans to turn their back on us regarding immigration are a problem.
Silly Democrats don’t know the difference between a Plutocracy and an Oligarchy. Just like the way they don’t know the difference between Socialism and Democracy.
Tell us something we don’t already know
because of a compliant media, too many people think the rats represent the poor people....we all know they have a lock on most of the richest people in this country, as well as other countries, and it shows...
