After nearly two days of hanging from the bridge, the dangling protesters were lowered one by one into the river. The protesters said they were cited with criminal trespassing and interfering with a peace officer.
The moment that three protesters were removed, the Fennica began heading towards the St. Johns Bridge. Kayaktivists in the Willamette tried to move in front of the boats path but crews pushed them away and the ship passed under the bridge just before 6 p.m. PT. It was expected to reach Astoria by 11:50 p.m
Members of Portland Fires high-angle rescue team lowered down from the bridge and cut the ropes connecting the dangling protesters to each other.

"Members of Portland Fires high-angle rescue team lowered down from the bridge and cut the ropes". Hmmm. I wondered yesterday if anyone in Portland had a knife. So why did they need to lower anyone down? Guess I don't know where the ecowackos were tied off. I'm sure they used all natural hemp rope and nothing high tech made from......OMG!!! petroleum products. Oh the hugh manatee.

I guess I have run out of the milk of human kindness, but when these eco freaks chain or tie themselves to bridges, railroad tracks and the like, I don’t care if they are run over and turned into lubricants.

..Worse yet, Portland mayor Charlie Hale “supports the protesters”.(his words). No thought for the traffic problems, lost wages, police/fire overtime dealing with these protesters and paid for by Hales constituents. Only thoughts is his position on Arctic Drilling.

Sharp knife from the most accessible point on the bridge, problem solved. Maybe the “lowering” to the water may have been a little quicker than they thought. As for mayor hale? Keel haulin’ sounds good.

Shoot, I’d have done it for free. I have a Chris Reeve Large Sebenza that’s razor sharp and tailor made for just such an important occasion.

Why were the protestors lowered at all? Tell them another ship is coming in and let them dangle for a couple of weeks.
Let the birds deal with the leftovers.

From wikipedia:
Charles Andrew Hales was born in Washington, D.C., in January 1956.[3]
Just another “piece of migrant trash” from the NE. Maybe the Left Coast would not be in the sad shape it is today, if we had cut the NE loose right after WWII. Everything from Virginia to Maine should have been set adrift to go back to Europe where they would all have “fit in.”

Great Gif!
The location and circumstances of that event would be extremely useful, should you have additional details.
