Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, criticized Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Thursday for his harsh rhetoric against the Iran nuclear deal. Cruz, a 2016 presidential candidate, has repeatedly warned in recent days that the agreement would mean President Barack Obama's administration is essentially sponsoring terrorism.
"If this deal goes through, the Obama administration will become the leading financier of terrorism against America in the world," Cruz said in a July 15 Fox News interview, for example.
He added: "I've heard this referred to before as the 'Jihadist Stimulus Bill.'"
But Romney argued on Twitter that Cruz's comments undermine the opposition to the deal:
"I am opposed to the Iran deal, but @SenTedCruz is way over the line on the Obama terrorism charge. Hurts the cause."
Mitt Romney (@MittRomney) July 30, 2015 Cruz's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider. However, the senator doubled down on his charge against the Obama administration on Tuesday, after the president himself criticized Cruz the day before.

Cruz Slams Romney, Bush Over Iran: GOP Too Scared To Speak Truth - Breitbart http://buff.ly/1VPLE27
Hurts the cause? What cause? Terrorism?
Mitt needs to go do some erectile dysfunction commercials.
And Clinton ran unopposed in 1996. Pretty piss-poor record for the GOP, huh...?
electile dysfunction?
Hey Mitt, do you ever wonder why you’re not president?
This is an excellent example of what we knew you would be like as president.
Oh yea he wasn't.
Never mind.
I wonder if Mitt consulted with Candy Crowley about the best way to phrase his Tweet...
Shut up Willard... You had your chance.
I am always glad he lost because it proved that God was more important to the balance of American conservatives than their fear of Obama. It proved Americans on balance had the CORRECT priorities.
I despise Obama but Romney would have destroyed the last vestiges of conservatism in the Republican party.
Regardless of how much anyone despised Obama in 2012, it had zip, zero, zilch impact on the wrongness, the depravity, the utter amoral leftism of Romney, the only difference being that not a single one of us here voted for Obama and his amoral leftism, but quite a few here DID vote for Romney and his amoral leftism.
See my tagline. :^)
Exactly. Yet in a classic demonstration of Einstein's definition of insanity, MANY are already declaring that they would vote for him or his like again in 2016 in order to vote "against" Hillary or whichever other leftist nightmare ends up getting the nomination.
Very sad and very frustrating. See my tagline and anyone who argues, "Oh yeah? What about ballot proposition?" Remind them that in deed, fact, and reality, you never vote "against" a thing; you vote FOR nixing a proposition. There has never been, isn't now, and never will be such thing as voting "against."
Yep. And Rush Limbaugh aided and abetted. :^(
Good one!!! {^)
Mitt Romney go along to get along with Iran on destroying Israel and the United States.
Mitt, you are not a candidate and not a spokesperson for the GOP. Shut up.......
Are you sure? Do you mean here in FR when you say "many"?
I'm not seeing much of it at all, at least not this early in the season.
For example, maybe I didn't notice but I haven't seen anyone post "as bad as Bush is, I would vote for him against Hillary".
Have you seen that here in FR?
Living proof that leftys with gold plated medical care tend to live forever. (ex #2: J. Carter)
You are correct, I haven't yet seen anyone say they'd vote for Jeb "against" Hillary, but I saw people swearing to their toes they'd never vote for Romney, maintain their steadfast course until the end of August in 2012. By that reckoning, we're more than a year out, so there's plenty of room for playing chicken.
If the candidate is offering what I WANT -- so far, Cruz is the only guy who has a political philosophy that gets it -- I'll vote for that candidate. PERIOD.
A candidate with zero political philosophy or compass and a past of left-leaning passion, is as big a risk as Schwarzenegger and Bush. I try to review my mistakes and apply what I've learned. Which is why these days, I only vote for what/who I want to win. I know that I don't get to vote "against" no matter how "unfair" it is.
Peace to ya, Bro FReeper.
Always a good sign for the country when losers like Mittens are unhappy.
He sure knows how to attack Republicans but did not have any charged or passionate disagreement with the anti-American global Marxist in the White Hut who is invading our Nation with foreigners, including drug operators and Isis. I find this amazing. Same with McStain and Linda.
