I think Trump may be making a mistake here.

Even 12hrs of prep with facts a data would serve him well.

Could he be sandbagging?

yea, that headline really captures the context of what he was saying...

Clearly his point is that he’s not going to have people tell him what to say and how to say it the way every other candidate will. He’ll go in being himself and if that’s not good enough to win the election and/or debate then so be it

I like him too but you don’t run your mouth off about how much money you have. It’s really in poor taste. I’ll watch the debates with great interest.

I have a lot of money — much more money than all of them put together and all of their phony contributions put together.

SFW. How is this relevant to the debate?

Here’s what I think he meant. I watched his Gretta Van Susteren interview and he said the same thing. From that viewing, I think he meant this.

He doesn’t feel the need to brush up for a debate. He feels that his views are solid enough to merely speak from his core.

That is something I have championed here as I took others to task for not being able to. There were times when President Bush would be presented with an excellent opportunity to educate, but he would either take a pass or offer up comments that missed the mark terribly.

This was evidence that at his core, he did not harbor true Conservative beliefs. Yes, in some ways he could display Conservative ideals, but it was a struggle for him.

If you’re a Conservative, someone can ask you a question on a subject you’ve never heard of before, and know how to respond to it based on the Conservative framework you have come to know and buy into. If you haven’t come to know it, and haven’t bought into it, you can’t.

Trump believes he can. From what I have seen of his presentations and the way he answers questions, I’m beginning to believe him.

As time goes by, we’ll see this confirmed or shot down. Time will tell...

The article at the link is interesting.

Kasich’s debate coach is a pompous ass.

Trump’s observations are correct.

It’s always best to be yourself because that’s the only way to be genuine.

Thus far, Mr. Trump has virtually owned the media and he’s owning it “his way, on his terms, no matter what’s thrown at him.”

once he gets there, he will say that the sunset sucks, it begged him for an appointment once 5 years ago, and it’s losing money.

Of course he is sandbagging.

You can bet he is doing debate prep.
But unlike the other clowns(except Cruz)
He is not wearing Depends during his prepping.
Nor is he wearing a flop Sweatband.

How do you know that he's not prepping for the debate? Do you expect his campaign to send out a notarized itinerary of his debate prep?

I'm sure he'll come to the debates with a good understanding of the issues. Also, years with the sharks in corporate boardrooms will serve him well with regard to having to be sharp and to think on his feet. I wouldn't want to be up on that stage with him, no matter how versed I was on the issues.

Well the MSM are really pushing the 1989 charge against him by his ex Ivana Trump that Donald raped her during their marriage. She is now denying it and supports him and says they are friends.

He’s probably just saying that to get the idiots in the media talking. I’m sure he will be prepped on material.

Trump will do just fine. He has made billions just by talking. He’s not going to forget how to do that!

Debate questions are limited in scope and intent. With Republicans its: 1. Gotcha questions. 2. Questions to bash other Republicans.

They'll ask policy questions but they're only designed to make the candidates look stupid.

If they ask a foreign policy questions it's easy: We're not the President yet and it's over a year until I will be so any specific questions HAVE to be based on principles...and these are my principle. Same things with domestic issues.

Trump may be simply lowering bar of expectations.

Have you ever come across any successful (meaning huge size) businessman who goes into any meeting unprepared?

But do not expect Trump to be wonkish. He is a leader and a delegater, not a micro-manger and professional politician.

I don't think Trump needs to prepare in the same way that more traditional candidates need to prepare. For example, because Perry has created doubts about his intelligence, Perry has to be prepared to demonstrate that he can intelligently discuss complicated policy issues.

No one is doubting Trump's intelligence and if he tries to stuff his brain with facts and figures, he will not be able to utilize his greatest strengths. Trump only needs to speak in general terms and he only needs to continue to express the frustrations that many people feel about a few important issues. He needs to reinforce the impression that he has a long history of successfully confronting complicated problems and that he has the independence to find solutions without worrying about what financial supporters might think. People are looking for a capable, independent leader.
