Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.), a onetime rising star who came to Congress 20 years ago as a next-generation reformer, was charged Wednesday with racketeering related to an off-books $1 million loan to his unsuccessful campaign for Philadelphia mayor in 2007. The Justice Department charged Fattah, a senior member of the powerful Appropriations Committee, and four supporters with 29 counts that included bribery, bank fraud and other corruption charges. The public expects their elected officials to act with honesty and integrity, said U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. By misusing campaign funds, misappropriating government funds, accepting bribes and committing bank fraud, as alleged in the Indictment, Congressman Fattah and his co-conspirators have betrayed the public trust and undermined faith in government. The wide-ranging investigation has been going on for several years, leading to charges against or guilty pleas from a number of Fattah's associates, including his son and a political consultant to his mayoral campaign. Prosecutors allege that Fattah and associates took out a secret $1 million loan from a wealthy businessman to help fund his unsuccessful 2007 mayoral campaign, then conspired to use federal grant funds to repay much of it. He also is alleged to have tried to settle a campaign debt by directing a federal grant to his creditor. Some of the conduct laid out in the indictment was previously aired in September charged filed against a D.C.-based political consultant who had worked for Fattah's mayoral campaign. Fattah was not named in those documents, but several sources told The Washington Post that he was the unnamed public official referred to in charging documents.

Will he be changing his name to Chaka Con after he gets out of prison?
You think it’s that bad? I was thinking maybe we had chased off some of the folks who did some of the heavy lifting around here. I may have been guilty of that to a certain extent myself. Maybe that combined with some over-moderation of the sidebars and some inane nonsense where people chase ‘blog pimps’ away for daring to post content (for free!) on the site.
I know I post here a lot less than I used to, but I do still come to the site several times a day to read the articles. It did used to be feasible to use FR as your sole news source and not miss anything. These days, that isn’t the case. Many times, something (at least somewhat important) will happen and I’ll get it pushed to my phone via Polutico or something like that and sometimes it never even shows up here.
I used to check all of the overnight postings when I got up in the morning. Most of posts that caught my interest had to me deferred for later in the day, and some had to wait until late that night.
Most days, I have finished with everything, including reading the accompanying article by the time the coffee pot is ready. The discussion has either ended or has gone somewhere else.
Not this Chaka.
I don't know. Is he a son of Obama, or just a son of a b----?
It is like the Pollard release. No one seems very exercised about it.
Apparently, Obama went out of his way to endorse a pan-Islamist, anti-Semitic, anti-Israel bigot and one of the most radical Members of CongressCongressman Chaka Fattah (that his last name is the same as one of the manifestations of the PLO isnt exactly a coincidence) in the Democratic Primary for Mayor of Philadelphia, last year. Fattah, for example, was one of 62 Democrats voting against a House resolution in favor of Israels right to defend itself against Palestinian terrorism and also build a border fence to keep terrorists out.
Just a case of black leftist pro-Islamist anti-Israel politicians sticking together back then.
You have to think that these charges must be pretty solid if the Obama DOJ is now indicting an erstwhile buddy from Philadelphia. (Recall that they wouldn't even prosecute the New Black Panthers for flagrant voter intimidation in Philly.)
According to Wikipedia, he was born Arthur Davenport, then was adopted by the Fattah family (Black Muslims?) and had his name changed. The name "Fattah: is definitely Arabic. He lists his religion as Baptist.
Please see my post # 27.
His adoptive father, David Fattah, and mother, Falaka Fattah (born Frances Brown, also known as Queen Mother Falaka Fattah), are community activists in West Philadelphia, where they are building an "urban Boys' Town" through their organization, the House of Umoja
....Mother Falaka Fattah...

Man, I’m gonna hit report abuse on you. You can’t use that kind of language here.
LOL!!!
Yes, I saw that on Wiki. The adoptive parents must be kind of elderly, because the congressman is 59. Still, although the congressman is listed as a Baptist, it seems as if his leftist political orientation was influenced by them.
Holy Chaka Chiquita Fattah!
That’s a whole butt-load of yellow right there.

Chaka Fattah was born Arthur Davenport, the fourth of six sons of a U.S. Army sergeant named Russell Davenport and a journalist and activist named Frances "Frankee" Brown. His mother worked for the Philadelphia Tribune and as an occasional publicist for musicians such as Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. The Davenport marriage failed while Arthur was still young, and his mother became deeply involved in the civil rights movement. At a 1968 national conference on black power, she met a fellow activist named David and married him two months later. Together they founded the magazine Umoja, a Swahili word for unity. They also decided to take new names that would emphasize their African roots. Frankee Brown became Falaka Fattah; Arthur became Chaka Fattah, named after the Zulu warrior Chaka.
I will love to see this idiot behind bars.
thanks for the info
it is just shocking how immoral and anti-American the current WashDC regime is
aside from all political questions like budget questions, whatever...
the current regime has driven USA right down into the cesspool of depravity while it is busy trying to further weaken USA, our economy, jobs, defenses, morals, morale, and allies.
