Keith Richards Still Smokes A Joint 'Regularly' In Morning
The Huffington Post ^ | July 28th, 2015 | Ron Dicker

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, 71, still likes to wake and bake.

But he's fussy about where the weed comes from.

"I smoke regularly, an early morning joint. Strictly Californian," The Independent reports the musician told Mojo magazine for its September issue.

Richards, who is currently promoting his solo album "Crosseyed Heart," also remarked on the spread of marijuana legalization in the United States.

"One of the most pleasant things to watch is a map of America where it goes, green ... green ... green ... green," The Independent reports he said. "Whether it’s a good thing in the long run, I don’t know."

Remember when Keith fell out of a coconut tree? He could have been seriously hurt if he hadn’t landed on his head.

Life written by Richards is a great read. There are a good many anecdotes that while reading your mind is going, ahhhhh, now I understand. I was amazed that the Stones opened for Bobby Goldsboro when they first toured the US and it was Goldsboro himself that taught Richards open chord tunings. Richards respect for George Jones is another facet of the Stones that I found interesting.

Charlie was considered very “cool” by the others when they were just starting out.

"2014 Billboard has them at #4 in earnings"

They'll finish this year #1 with their little tour.

They've been in the top 5 of earners every year since 1967. They've held the #1 spot multiple times.

Yeah, they're at the top of their profession.

Somehow this reggae song comes to mind...

I smoke two joints in the morning

I smoke two joints at night

I smoke two joint in the afternoon

It makes me feel all right

I smoke two joints in time of peace

And two in time of war

I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints

And then I smoke two more

Daddy he once told me

"Son, you be hard workin' man"

And momma she once told me

"Son, you do the best you can"

Then one day I meet a man

He came to me and said

"Hard work good and hard work fine

But first take care of head"

Whoa rock me to the night

Ja say

He runs 3 miles 5 days a week on a treadmill - backwards. I read that he runs a 10 mt. Mile, but having tried to run a single mile backwards in 20 mts. and experienced much difficulty, I am hard pressed to believe it.

Keith Richards will always be cool in my book based on these 15 seconds alone..

Pete Townshend did the same thing to Abbie Hoffman during Woodstock, he basically admitted that when he's on stage if anyone tries to do that, he could literally kill them because he's so amped up.

You can hear it, they dabbled with country music more than a few times over the years.

I saw him playing with The New Barbarians about 35 years ago from 10’ away. He looked like death warmed over *then*!

At least as late as 1994 they were at the very top of the charts and won a Grammy for their record.

994's Voodoo Lounge (UK 1; US 2). The album met strong reviews and sales, going double platinum in the US. Reviewers took note of the album's "traditionalist" sounds, which were credited to the Rolling Stones' new producer Don Was.[155] Voodoo Lounge would win the Stones the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album at the 1995 Grammy Awards.[156]

Can’t always go by what’s most popular. To me it’s often a red flag that the stuff is mediocre at best. ie, Michael Jackson.

So if the Stones don’t make #1 on some publication’s list, it wouldn’t surprise me. Same is true for movies. I have little respect for most film critics.

Neither their chart position, their sales, their press nor their concert attendance mean anything to me.Great music has been made by those who are literally unknown. And cr*p has found its way to fame and praise.

Remember,Hillary,Obola and the Senior Senator from Chappaquiddick have been at the "top of the charts".

Richards has looked like death warmed over for years.

You should have attended my 45 year class reunion........Granted, the chicks never looked like death warmed over but they definitely looked like my grandmother........

Kudos to Richards.......
