Perhaps most of the domestic market for Mexican grown cilantro are the illegal immigrants themselves. If the stuff does in fact taste like soap, then that is the closest most of them get to soap.

About time. When you drive by the strawberry fields near Pendleton, you see a line of guys picking out in the field. And there is ONE port-a-pot wayyy off in a corner. You bet the guys hike over there!

Yet when there is an e coli outbreak, it’s NEVER because of sanitation in the fields.

My first time ever reading the headline with the phrase “feces explosion”. Good name for a garage band.

” I will not buy any seafood at the grocery store unless it is USA and wild caught.”

I get most of my fish from my local Asian market. Tons of wild caught fish. And the live Tilapia comes from Erie Pa. Good stuff!

” It just seems to complement other flavors in Mexican food very well.”

Specially the Bowel Burgers Au Jus!

Yeah, I am the same, I taste no lemon in cilantro, and I can see the “soap” comparison, but I don’t mind the flavor unless people use too much of it.

Wow, looks like Mexico is not sending us their best cilantro either. Paging The Donald.

Glad I grow my own. Soapy taste is based on genetics. Either cilantro = soapy, or it doesn’t. Personally, I love it

Soapy taste is based on genetics.

Over the years I got to be quite a connoisseur of soap. My personal preference was for Lux, but I found Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor - heady, but with just a touch of mellow smoothness. Life Buoy, on the other hand...YECCHH!

There ya go. I hate the taste of cilantro, too. Maybe this explains why.

So everyone that doesnt like the taste of cilantro is genetically inferior to those of us who do?

I do not recall anyone saying any such thing!
ALL I did was make a post from Wikipedia and I indicated it was from Wiki.
To Help You understand better let repost the first sentence and try to make it easier to read:

Different people may perceive the taste of coriander
leaves differently. Those who enjoy it
say it has a refreshing, lemony or lime-like
flavor, while those who dislike it have a
strong aversion to its taste and smell,
likening it to that of soap and bugs

I do not see anything in that post indicating any genetic inferioity. do you?
Read it very slow so you will be able to understand.

I hope this post is a help with your reading comprehension.
I hope I have been of help to you.
Thank you for your attention.

BTW. Just for your information I live in South Texas on the family ranch.
I grew up eating cilantro. I like it.
