When will Jim banish Trump supporters from FR, like he did with Giuliani advocates? [JR @ 305]
one man's opinion...

Posted on 07/25/2015 2:15:15 PM PDT by ken5050

On 4/23/2007, Jim Robinson posted a manifesto, "Giuliani as the GOP presidential nominee would be a dagger in the heart of the conservative movement" (and a knife in the back) . The thread was subtitled, "The only difference in a Liberal Rudy Giuliani and Liberal Hillary Clinton is the fact of which bathrooms they select to use and there are some who are willing to even question that.

Again, what would be in it for Trump to be in favor of baby parts sales? And secondly, while abortion is itself a bridge too far, baby parts sales is exponentially worse. Can you not see the difference in degree? I believe even Donald Trump can. He is a rather enthusiastic father and grandfather.

“It’s essentially a mis-spelled comical reference to ‘throwing the book at someone’ who says the wrong thing.”

I didn’t know that. Thanks for the historical tip.

For all of Trumps warts, for lack of a better term,he is a 100 times more conservative than the GOPe leadership and half the republican representitives in the congress. That explains his rise in the polls.

Really, it means “In Before the Zot.” It’s used to indicate a post that is so immediately objectionable, the poster is likely to get zotted (banned or suspended from FR). The “IBTZ” poster wants to be first to predict the zot.

Again, can you not see that Trump has been pro abort until recently? I am not going to assume that Trump will de-fund planned parenthood based on this history. I did not say that Trump is in "favor of baby parts sales". I said that Trump has been pro abort, hence I don't see him as reliable on something such as de-funding Planned Parenthood.

Being enthusiastic about being a father and grandfather is not a sign of being a committed pro-lifer. I think Nancy Pelosi is also an enthusiastic mother and grandmother.

Cruz is running for President himself. He has not dropped out and endorsed Trump. Many here try to sound like Cruz has given up and endorsed Trump.

“Trump leaves the door open slighly for a third party run as a threat mechanism, because he has most of the Repubican RINO establishment types attacking him relentlessly at the moment, and it’s one way of obliquely telling them to mind their P’s and Q’s and not take it too far. A smart political move by one who is not a politician, wouldn’t you say? I would do the same. Let the threat hang out there. We all know why he is doing this. He’d be stupid not to.”

Wrong. Just how would the threat of going third party modify anyone’s behavior or, even if it did, have any impact on Trump’s chances of being elected? Trump has the cash and is therefore not reliant big GOP donors. And the media is giving him plenty of coverage. Trump has the resources and coverage to go directly to GOP voters whether the GOPe likes it or not.

The principled course of action would be for him to make it very clear that 1) The democrats’ policies represent an existential threat to our country; 2) He would support ANY Republican against ANY democrat.

Even assuming his “threat” might achieve it’s objective, it is disgustingly unprincipled and should disqualify him from consideration - he is basically saying “Treat me bad and I will gladly fatally damage your cause (and mine) and dramatically increase the probability of having the democratic nominee win”. Is that the kind of person YOU want to vote for?

Maybe he had an artificial intelligent computer program to isolate before it spread to the internet and killed us all.

You should be thankful you are still alive.

Yikes, I got took, lol. Shows how much I know about book classification systems. I never did like to have to learn the Dewey Decimal System, and it shows. Thanks for letting me know I’m a decimal dummy. What is it that P.T. Barnum said, a sucker is born every minute, or something like that. Hope I’m better at politics than libraries.

What I see is that Trump has come out of the closet as a conservative. I understand his past liberalism, and agree with flaglady’s post above that gives him credit for becoming wiser as an older man. I applaud his risk-taking in launching this campaign. He is apparently ready to tell it like it is now.

Reflect on the fact that Ronald Reagan, as governor of California, unleashed two of the worst catastrophes to hit American society in all U.S. history: being one of the first, if not THE first of the states to legalize abortion, and legalizing “no-fault” divorce. He regretted both later; but the horrible results are with us still and will be for another century.

I respect Cruz immensely, after his call-out of MCConnell and the entire GOPe yesterday, from the floor of the Senate. He did it in unmistakeable terms, leaving himself no room for later weaseling. That’s not the kind of thing, by any stretch of the imagination, which a person does who expects to maintain any kind of career in this current Uniparty set-up. If Cruz doesn’t win in the primaries, or get chosen as running mate by the winner(and of it’s GOPe nominee, forget it), I can’t see the likes of McConnell and all whom he called out, ever giving him career-enhancing positions in the future. It was courageous beyond belief.
