Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell started a fast-track process Friday on legislation to strip Planned Parenthood of federal funding in the wake of two controversial videos showing officials discussing delivery of fetal parts.
The Republican leader began "Rule 14," which will let the legislation skip the committee process and be placed on the Senate calendar so it can be brought up for a floor vote.
The move comes after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slammed McConnell during a blistering floor speech earlier Friday, suggesting the Kentucky Republican wanted to dodge a vote on defunding Planned Parenthood.
"There are a host of amendments that the American people are focused on, things like defunding Planned Parenthood after the gruesome video, Cruz said. The majority leader doesn't want to vote on that. That's actually something the American people are focused on."

Planned Parenthood = Butchering Babies for Bucks.
I will celebrate when PP has been de-funded and not some grand-standing coward’s claim to put forth a bill that he himself will most likely work clandestinely to thwart.
Sure he will (eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood). I’ll believe it when i don’t see it.
He doesn’t have to. He does not have the votes to override the promised veto.
It’s exactly the cynical show voting Cruz called him on.
He doubled down folks.
No deal needed to be cut with PP.. It’ll squeak past the senate and Obama will veto it.
Dead deal before it started. Mitch is just using it to look tough on something.
Cruz was taking a strong stand before trump made it cool.
Did you forget he shut down the government over obamacare funding?
Any Republican not voting to defund this butchery must be voted OUT!!
Just a Kabuki play by the GOPe. He knows it will never pass (certainly not the veto by Obama), but it gives him a chance to show his 'cred' to the little people.
If he was sincere, and was really trying, but failed due to a Godless pResident and his Democrat minions - I'd give him credit for trying. But I don't believe him. This is just an act.
I agree with you, but Mitch is the Pride of Kentucky.
He ain’t the pride of this guy living in KY.
I worked for and voted for Matt Bevin.
I couldn’t bring myself to vote for the idiot dem woman running against him.
IF I lived near McConnell, I’d plant myself across from his house while he’s on break, with a huge LIAR sign.
Sorry to say most of the people in my part of the state vote for name recognition and family history.
Paul and Cruz working as a team They will have a national stage next week to explain what we already know but most have no idea
He sure has taken a stand.. all along!!
IT was his stand in shutting down the government and his conservatism across the board that convinced me he’s our man for the hour!!!
DONATE!!! DONATE!!!!

Either way it’s a win. Let’s put Dems on record. They ought to pass a bill every day and let Obama veto it. At least it would keep them occupied.
The word has gotten out to the general public about Planned Parenthood's grisly practices. I don't think a veto is a sure thing. If he does veto it he's going to further brand the Democrats as the Party of Baby Parts. I don't think the Dems want to go there in an election season.
What he will probably do is make some sort of statement about the "intolerant" Republicans, but let it slide.
Any Republican not voting to defund this butchery must be voted OUT!!

Exactly! They should also be made to answer for why they support babies being butchered and their parts sold to the highest bidder!
Unintended [but welcome] consequences of being smoked by Ted Cruz!!!
Cruz forced him into it.
He’ll make sure enough Republicans vote no to defeat it.
Oh, no. That was a Cruz Missile!
I wrote in, None of the above.
