Just so you know your rights.
Thanks..never can get that to work for me.
Of course the biggest thing to keep in mind is right and dead is still dead. It’s often survival positive to ignore the fact that the cop is completely overstepping and get things over with without confrontation.
Your rights during police encounters 7-23-15 Posted on 7/24/2015, 1:09:35 PM by Paul46360 Just so you know your rights.
Exactly.
Nothing.
No rights.
Yeah, if you want to argue the finer points of the constitution, do it in a court of law because you aren’t going to win on the side of the road.
No mention of rights while operating a motor vehicle on public roads.
I never had any problems with the cops after I quit drinking. I respect and admire them - they are fighting men. Of course they respect and admire me right back as a fightin rooster.
These days your rights are whatever the police officer decides your rights are.
Discretion is the better part of valor.
Don’t get mad, get even - with the help of a lawyer who’ll gut them like a stuck pig.
For the most part I have found that just a quiet polite demeanor is the best and quickest way to get rid of a cop and be on your way.
The one thing I don’t engage in is letting the cop get me to guess what I did wrong. If an officer ever asks me “do you know why I pulled you over?” I just politely say “honestly I think I’ll have to let you tell me”
If you get mouthy with the cops, things will go badly.
If you fight with or run from the cops, things will go worse.
You are NOT going to change a cop’s mind at the point of contact and their gang is bigger than yours.
Suck it up and win later.. you ain’t going to win at the point of arrest.
Sucks.. but true.
If you fight or run.. then whatever happens after that is your own stupid fault.
Trust me.. I know. Got tuned up real good back in the 80’s when I was mouthy and attitudinal.. not mellow and sweet like I am today.
You have the right not to be killed
Murder is a CRIME!
Unless it was done by a
Policeman or aristocrat
Know your rights

But it is worth noting that today's "authority" is not the same as from back in the 1960's.
The local cops I knew when growing up in the 1960's were serious guys, but decent guys. I enjoyed talking to them when the opportunity arose (in a bank line, etc.).
The local cops now are mainly muscled-up guys who wear wrap-around sunglasses, all the time. They are just not interested in talking politely to the average citizen.
Perhaps the cops have changed because the criminals have changed. But I now have trouble viewing my local cops as good neighbors who are just doing a job. And that's sad.
Most excellent!
Your only practical right in a police encounter is the right to take any police violation of rights to court after the encounter. You can die maintaining your rights in a police encounter.
When you come in contact with police, they are the
center of the universe, be polite but keep your
mouth SHUT.
Thanks..never can get that to work for me.

When I've been asked by cops do you know why I pulled you over?, I answer "I have no idea at all". That ends the baiting by the cops and they have to explain their reasons. Don't start guessing what you did wrong; sometimes you're innocent but just a convenient target.
