John McCain is an American hero. Although we have some policy disagreements, I'm proud to serve alongside him.
nick outed himself on another thread...he is a Bush bot. But I do not hate him for that. We can’t all be wise.
A Bushbot?
Hmmmmmmm.
Thanks, Mr. McCain, for your service and sacrifices back in Vietnam. Now that that acknowledgment is over, you also need to know that you're also a dork, McCain, and I wouldn't support you, your opinions or your pubbie hack friends if I had money to burn. In fact, I consider your post-VN behavior to be - at times - close to treason. That was then and this is now.
It’s an odd statement.
It’s quite possible that a man may perform bravely in one moment or mission, and be despicable after that.
Cruz puzzles me. I want to think he’s not GOPe. He appears to be outside that circle, but statements like this make me wonder.
I’m also concerned about his eligibility. If he had been born of an American mother and a Kenyan father in Mexico, would he be eligible to be President, and how is that legally different from an American mother and a Cuban father in Canada?
Yes, I do, I even understand the guilt-ridden white southerner aspect of Slick's character. No disrespect, but I'm not interested in getting off on everyone's tangents and debating those tonight. I'll take a look at your link.
And see my response #78 to Longbow1969.
I agree with you and senator Cruz. McCain is an American hero same as every military person who saw combat in war zones. But McCain is not a war hero. To achieve that status one has to display extra ordinary bravery such as Audie Murphy. Or when a soldier sacrifices his own life to save his comrades, they are indeed also war heroes.
McCain was just an inept pilot who could not evade enemy SAM’s. American hero for sure, but not a war hero. He was called “songbird” by his captors for a reason.
Geez, he sounds phony. Like every other scripted politician I’ve seen in my life. He IS playing the game and giving into political pressure by talking about it. He should have told the interviewer that the country has very serious problems (listed off 10 or a 100 of them), and then emphatically said that he’s not going to be roped into a debate over another candidate’s comments. These Repubs never learn, and they fall into the leftist game each time. And I’m tired about hearing how classy our side is. That’s all I heard about GW for eight years, and he helped usher in Obama’s reign. I guess we can keep up with “the class” and say hello to evil beast Hillary for four to 8
Eight years. I’m sick of being lied to and abused by ALL these pukes.
yeah, it was a long discussion on another thread, and the clue to me was, whose certain nomination is most in danger since Trump appeared on the scene?
40-love.
You have no evidence Trump is a conservative, so you spread lies.
Can't disagree with that. I supported Perot until he dropped out, then voted for GHWB. Back in 1992, after Perot dropped out, I told a passionate Perot supporter and idolizer that: "History called and Perot went home". Infuriated her, but that is about what happened.
“You are right, Cruz had to bow down to political correctness and kiss McCain a$$. Which is why Ted stays in the Senate, if he is lucky. A profile in courage Ted is not. And now Donald Trump knows that when the going gets tuff he can count on Ted to high tail it out of town.”
If this is true about Trump, it’s such a disappointment.
One version I’ve read is that all the pilots were given the promise of early release in exchange for signing statements critical of the US, and McCain, like the others, refused.
Another version is that he was offered early release, but he knew that being an Admiral’s son it’d be seen as preferential treatment, and he refused so as not to hurt the morale of other POWs.
What I can’t figure out is that if the North Vietnamese wanted to release any prisoner, how the prisoner’s feelings in the matter would count for much. I assume any enemy willing to torture would have no problem shoving you out the door against your will.
Oops, I meant true about Cruz, not Trump. See corrected sentence below:
“You are right, Cruz had to bow down to political correctness and kiss McCain a$$. Which is why Ted stays in the Senate, if he is lucky. A profile in courage Ted is not. And now Donald Trump knows that when the going gets tuff he can count on Ted to high tail it out of town.”

Benedict Arnold was a hero at the Battles of Ticonderoga and Saratoga.
And we all know how his career turned out.
McNasty called Cruz a coo coo bird a couple of years ago. Cruz has no use for him but he’s not going to cut down another republican. This part about McCain being a “hero” he’s just saying because he knows the media will rake him over the coals if he says anything negative about the old RINO. Cruz is smart. When Trump finally drops out and he will, Cruz will pick up his supporters. The other candidates are too stupid to understand that.
Yup oh well, I might go over to Ted’s face book page and see how kissing McCain butt is working out for Ted.
