Ted Cruz is getting a boost in South Carolina from Rep. Jeff Duncan, who on Monday will announce Cruz as the first headliner for his Faith & Freedom BBQ next month.
The event, which in five years has ballooned to the largest Republican event in the Palmetto State, will present a key opportunity for GOP presidential candidates to connect with conservative voters in a state that will help decide the Republican nominee. But, unlike at many party events, where often all candidates are invited to speak, Duncan will this year select only three or four of his favorite Republican contenders, offering an early look at whom he might later choose to endorse.
In the vein of Rep. Steve King in Iowa, Duncan has worked to establish himself as something of a kingmaker for conservatives in South Carolina, and his stamp of approval could be an important boon for candidates hoping to compete there.
Duncans selection of Cruz, who has worked closely with Duncan and other House conservatives, could mean the Texas senator has a leg up in winning Duncans support later.
Sen. Cruz has been a strong voice for the people in Washington, and I'm looking forward to bringing him to South Carolina for this important event," Duncan said, according to a forthcoming press release from his office....

No, sorry, it does not indicate a problem on Ted Cruz’s part, if anything the problem is the field of candidates is thinned out.
Candidates like Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee, Linda Graham, Rick Perry, Rand Paul and other’s drop out.
A good indicator of really how Ted Cruz is doing amount the base is his campaign donations amoung the small donors.
Most of the polls are agenda driven anyway so no one can trust them until they have to accurately report the truth.
Marco Rubio was Fox News golden boy, but now they are shilling for talking ass of donkey Jeb Bush, that is beyond Ted Cruz’s control even if he was in first place.
Had years ? He just annoucned running for President back in March.
So? He has been in the Senate and national spotlight for years
facts are facts and he is polling seventh
Not as much as your post, again.
Do you speak English? what is your point?
According to which polls? Please enumerate the polls, by name and value. Thanks, plain talk.
No, I am writing American English. In a manner sparse, at times. Yet, the detraction from subject, is your own burden.
well you said — “Not as much as your post, again.” That makes no sense.
Polling 7th in who’s poll ?
And ?
He only has been running for president since March.
Even Ronald Reagan was polling behind others in 1980.
That is your polling basis, Foxnews? Okay. Why do hate the United States? What is killing you?
Fox news. see post 29
You act surprised. Cruz has not been polling well for a while. The usual RINO suspects have been leading. “well it’s early” yeah yeah, excuses, excuses. Some needs to kick some ass in Cruz’s campaign or the pubs will nominate another RINO
So? Trump has only been running for President since June. Paul and Rubio announced in April. Walker just announced six days ago. Cruz was the first person in the Republican Party to announce that he was running for President
Here are the results. I am simply pointing out that he is way behind. I am concerned Cruz is not getting the campaign he deserves. He needs to get going to win against establishment Republicans and RINOs
Jul / Jun / May / Apr / Mar
Donald Trump 18% 11% 4% 4% 5% 3%
Scott Walker 15 9 12 11 12 15
Jeb Bush 14 15 12 13 9 12
Rand Paul 8 9 9 7 10 9
Marco Rubio 7 8 7 9 13 8
Ben Carson 6 10 11 13 6 11
Ted Cruz 4 4 8 6 8 10
Mike Huckabee 4 6 6 10 9 10
Chris Christie 3 2 5 6 6 4
John Kasich 2 2 2 2 2 1
Rick Santorum 2 3 2 2 1 2
Carly Fiorina 1 3 2 1 - 1
Rick Perry 1 2 4 2 2 3
Lindsey Graham - 1 2 - 1 -
Bobby Jindal - 2 1 1 1 2
Don't be surprised if Trump does turn out to be Cruz's unintentional stalking horse toward the nomination.
Like I said... "anything is possible."
Yeah that would be a wonderful outcome. Cruz did extremely well in enemy territory in that Katie Couric interview and kept her in her box. I don’t understand why he isn’t doing better as he speaks well and is brilliant.
Twists and turns.
Remember a few years back, 2012 I believe, when the NY football Giants were having a very mediocre season under Eli Manning and finished the season at 9 and 7 and barely got a wildcard berth in the playoffs. The odds were about 200 to 1 that they would even win the Superbowl
Strangely.. they won it ALL beating the NE Patriots 21-17.
Anything is possible.. and it's about time for lightning to strike politics.
