Trump Supports National Health Care (2011)
Business Insider ^ | 04.18.11 | John Ellis

Posted on 07/19/2015 10:46:06 AM PDT by Behind Liberal Lines

"We must have universal healthcare," wrote Trump. "I'm a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one. We should not hear so many stories of families ruined by healthcare expenses."

The goal of health care reform, wrote Trump, should be a system that looks a lot like Canada. "Doctors might be paid less than they are now, as is the case in Canada, but they would be able to treat more patients because of the reduction in their paperwork," he writes.

Clearly, when Trump about repealing obamacare he means he wants to replace it with something even worse.

I hear he’s been divorced and put his businesses in bankruptcy, too. LOL

John Ellis is the author. “Jeb’s” real name is John Ellis Bush. Just a coincidence, I’m sure...

Not necessarily. Milton Friedman was in favor of national health care too. You just have to do it right.

He'll have to answer that.
Probably private for all who want it and medical for those who can't afford all of the insurance payments.
Maybe first take 8% of any pay for Medical and force those refusing to work in some form of workfare or be denied all long term public assistance. That is what I would do.

Trump has since (this 2011 article) come out, strongly, against 0CommieCare. His latest statement on healthcare has more to do with free market solutions...for the hospitals and insurance companies.

Trump is angry. And he has a megaphone. That is all that matters to the Trumpsters.

It will be worse for upper middle income Americans, but better for near, but not at poverty-level, working class Americans (i.e. not eligible for Medicaid or tax credits) of both parties. This, together with building a wall along the southern border, will be the issue that brings working class white Democrats over to the GOP. To make single-payer affordable, the medical lobby and the hospital unions will take a lot of damage, much as they have in the rest of the world where this has been implemented. At the same time, doctors won’t exactly starve, given that even in the UK, doctors make salaries in the high five figures.

There is a “right” way to have nationalized healthcare? You Trump worshippers have lost your minds or are Socialist trolls.

Universal healthcare is not the same as nationalized healthcare.

This isn't news. I have posted Trump's desires for single payer, socialized healthcare many times and his ardent supporters just don't seem to care.

Trump is for single payer socialized healthcare.

Bernie Sanders is for single payer socialized healthcare.

On healthcare Trump is so far left he mirrors Sanders.

Go Trump. /s

Remember, FReepers.

You aren’t in line at a deli of wonderful candidates. You are in prison looking at President Hillary Butcher Clinton.

If Trump is a Democrat he is better than Hill.

Hillary will beat Jeb. We have one party, the media and PC controlled Statist Party. Trump is a chance to kill it. If he takes Cruz as his veep, we could end up where we want to be. It’s not like we have a choice.

Ok Trumpies ..... defend this one. As these types of nuggets continue to get uncovered, Trump's credibility and campaign are going to take a hit.

I've said it at least a dozen times: as more and more of this kind of stuff keeps coming out, the less credibility and viability Trump has as a candidate.

he wants to replace it with something even worse.

That's what we're being led to believe by Trump bashing lefties and their digging up something that Trump was supposed to have said a half decade ago means very little.  My problem w/ Trump is that I  haven't had any luck finding out what he does believe now.  His websites say a lot about what a great guy he is but they nothing about what Trump's stand is on taxes, abortion, ISIS, and yes, healthcare.

So imho Trump's not wrong because of something he said on some issue, but rather that he's wrong because he hasn't said anything about the issues.  Apparently he's more into personality marketing than statecraft.

Obamacre shows what doesn't work.

Back to private insurance and an ability to buy into the welfare version at 8% of income for those that can't afford private.
If someone gets it free and can't prove a bad disability that keeps them from working, then the lazy go o workfare or be denied all benefits.
Do the above with tort/lawsuit reform and we are back on the right track IMO.also have to keep a close eye on profit margins of insurace companies and to remove all we can in go between employees that raise the cost of insurance.

Trump only cares about Trump.

He can play the populist card rather well, but I don’t believe he’s authentic at all.

I enjoy his antics, but that doesn’t mean he’s presidential material.
