2016 Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump spoke at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa and got a standing ovation from the crowd.
Trump made a number of statements deemed 'controversial' by many of the other GOP candidates, including saying that John McCain was only a war hero 'because he was captured.'

Can you name five other people held captive in the Hanoi Hilton?
Can you name five other Naval pilots from Vietnam?
Can you name 25 people who served in Vietnam?
If you think about it, this makes it very clear what Trump meant.
We know John was a “War Hero” because John and his supporters keep reminding us of it.
What Trump means what Trump says don't often collide in the same sentence.
This is all meaningless and a distraction from the national discussion of how to handle our future.
Trump is a pleasure to watch because there is no put on. What you see is what you get.
And even though he is rich, he doesn't come across as a snob.
Luntz is a lefty.
Donald Trump came across as very sincere and very credible. He is not a clown. He’s not the most conservative guy running but he’s the most earnest along with Cruz. IMO.
I completely agree.
I just watched the entire video, Trump is getting even better.
He’s on message. He’s not backing down. He’s a very powerful speaker.
Trump was pro-abortion, pro-gay and pro-government healthcare until he decided to run
It’s like Trump was born last week or something.
These people would all support Hillary if she switched parties.
Yeah, we should all go back to talking about White Supremacy and listening to Jebby and McCain explain how Conservatives are all "crazies" and we need more illegal aliens.
Exactly Trump likes the truth, he has no time for the bull. Least politically correct politician ever.
And McCain is no hero look what he has done to this country, he is a disgrace.
Bottom line for me is, Trump can win, and I don’t believe that of anyone one else. The GOP party bosses want to give the nomination to Bush and that will mean a President Hillary Clinton.
This Luntz guy is not a Conservative or anything near it.
He asks gotcha questions of Republican candidates, and if you watch his focus group performances on election nights, he freaking clueless. He misrepresents across the board.
One of his first questions to Trump, “Have you ever asked God for forgiveness?”
Some folks will be shocked by Trumps answer. Folks, you should be shocked by the question itself.
Who asks this question of a political candidate? I’m only 64 now, but in my lifetime I have never seen a candidate asked this question before.
In Luntz’s position, he knows what pushes people’s buttons. And it’s my take this was geared to put a stake through the heart of any Christian supporter. It was a hack-job attempt to destroy support for Trump among this group.
Luntz, what you are supposed to ask a candidate about are their policies, what they will do for the nation. You’re not supposed to ask them what their prayers sound like.
Trump answered truthfully. Latter on he mentioned that he prays often.
I am so sick of Luntz. He’s no friend of Conservatism. He’s a hatchet job hack. And his election night focus groups are geared to diminish Conservative views.
He belittles the views of Conservatives, and if a focus group clearly disagrees with him, he’ll break off for a commercial rather than let that fact become even more clear by staying on the topic and letting it play out.
So that was your take-away from my post?
LOL
IIRC, McCain lost 2 or 3 jets from poor piloting.
Didn't McCain cause a fire on a navy aircraft carrier?
Yet another great interview with Trump...
Btw, did the obese moderator mention McCain called millions of concerned Americans supporting Trump, Crazies.
He spoke superficially, mainly because the subject matter of jobs and greatness are still in the memories of Americans and they are not "astounding" subjects
The one BRAVO moment was at the end where he said morality and success go hand in hand
When I read our founder's thoughts and statements about religion and the Bible, they all express the fear that, if we lose the Bible and our Christ centered morality, we will fail as a nation .... as a Republican nation
So with THAT in mind ... Trump is powerful (if he means it) .... morality and success go together.
See, that’s the thing, he didn’t say what all Trumps attackers wished and imagined Trump had said.
Here’s what he said “I have great respect for all those who serve in our military including those that weren’t captured and are also heroes.”
You have crossed a bridge too far.....
...Are you calling us ‘crazies’
Worse he said we would support that leftist corrupt liar Hilliary. Guess we all gotta think like him to be true conservatives, people that think like that make me sick.
GOPe was Anti-abortion, Anti-gay and Anti-government healthcare until they controlled both Houses.
