From the laughable notion that recreating the Petrine Office in one's own image and likeness is a mark of "humility," to the dog-and-pony press conference that presented the 40,000 word Eco-Marxist manifesto Laudato Si' to the world as a contribution to the social doctrine of the Church, the current pontificate is so lacking genuine Catholic character that its official messaging often gives off the unmistakable stench of a spin job deliberately crafted to deceive.
The farcical tones that began emanating from Rome in the early evening hours of 13 March 2013, apparently detectable to but a relative few early on, have been growing louder and louder ever since.

Save for later
Had a similar experience. Our parish and a neighboring parish had pastors that had previously molested boys, but our bishop at the time cleared out all the records when he first became bishop (it was Clark BTW), so everyone could start out with a clean slate, but what it did was place the molesters into parishes with lot's of kids! It came out in the news and it was devastating to both parishes. We felt betrayed! We lost a couple of hundred parishioners as a result. Then I found out that our new pastor signed a very public petition in support of allowing gay seminarians to be allowed to be ordained! This was back in 2008 and outside of funerals, I don't go to church anymore. Pope Francis is the topping on the cake, a Marxist climate alarmist! He should know that God is in charge of all this, not man! That was it for me, I'm done with the Catholic Church and the Pope!
I applaud you for not losing faith in God. I hope whatever you choose brings you happiness and I wish you well.
Yeah it’s survived bad popes.. ALL of them.
Destroying Catholicism.
“the damage will be immense. I suspect large numbers will leave, not wishing to be associated with his promotion of Marxism. Many others will dramatically scale back their giving.”
I agree. Hopefully the faithful will not be corrupted and the next Pope will be a man of God.
“Yeah its survived bad popes.. ALL of them.”
Do you think John Paul II was a “bad Pope”? How about St. Peter?
Thank you, friend.
Yeah, bro. Me too.
I too am devout and donate/volunteer. I try to ignore much of what he says, sadly. I miss my B16.
Funny, but sad and true.
He has hinted that he will retire, as did B16. I don’t see a JP2 papacy here. The Pope needs to be focusing more on spiritual warfare what with the twin evils of ISIS and Obama and his puppetmasters.
And more than that - Unquestionably, the lion's share of charity, outstripping any organization on the planet, springs from those folks who find themselves in that middle class. having a secure and comfortable income, they can afford to give freely, and many do...
And it is precisely this middle class, born in England of freemen, this aberration of the class system, that elitists (royalty) and collectivists (bureaucrats), must necessarily destroy - Those freemen, having neither the pomp and papers of royalty, nor the necessity of servitude assigned to the peasant, are precisely the product of 'unrestrained capitalism'.
That the Roman church, an elitist class reigning over a bureaucratic class, ordered over an obedient laity bound to their service, would be against those who derive their liberty from that (and every other) system by way of the independence and personal responsibility afforded by a capitalist republic should be no surprise - The two are naturally in utter opposition.
What you see in this jesuit pope is merely the slipping of the mask.
As a practicing Roman Catholic I feel I need to remind everyone that this institution has had all kinds of bad popes and when they forget the admonition My Kingdom Is Not Of This World” .This church gets into all sorts of trouble. But survives.
These meandering homilys of This pope on temporal matters diffuse any theologic message Pope Francis offers. Snowballs should be thrown at those pointy hat supporters of his as well as opposition clearly expressed to those meanderings on any visit Francis may make here.
The Marxist nonsense, on top of a defrocked climate theology is going to make him look stupid in the long run.
One item of note - he comes from Latin America, where those countries have practiced a feudalism for centuries that locked their citizens into a perpetual serfdom, in extreme poverty. Their markets are dominated by the government or by the 50 top families. Competitors are arrested, or killed. The rich and the mafia rule, that is how it has been, that is how it will stay and that is why Latin America does not progress like the US. That is why they come to America in droves, they are tired of slavery.
In that light many have embraced the ridiculously flawed liberation theology - but they don’t understand market capitalism because they have only seen a bastardized version of it.
South America suffers from an authoritarian mindset that has religious origins. Someone must be in charge is the way they see and accept things. I was somewhat surprised to learn that Brazil, upon gaining its independence from Portugal, installed an Emperor. A republic came later, but after the second emperor. Latin America’s romance with dictators borders on a religious belief. It sure seems Latin politics and religion are very closely related.
Argentina, with it’s large Italian population, had many leaders, especially Peron, who modeled themselves directly after Mussolini.
I’ve seen newsreels of Peron rallies. You might think you were in Nazi Germany. The Argentines love their dictators, even the women.
